Re: How to treat the missus

My only claim to fame is that I saw 'im at Blackbushe in 1978 when he did an encore with Eric Clapton.

Re: 5 countries in 4 day

Great write up and trip.

As you say easy to do 5 countries - on a trip to the Nurbergring in 2010 the route involved England, France, Belgium, Holland (about 15 miles) and Germany :D And no Sat Nav back then just a map book a list of road numbers :D

Re: Cyclists

Some interesting comments on this thread. A lot of people believe that cyclists should ride single file bit do not know that the Highway Code (UK) actually allows them to ride two abreast . What the Code actually says is: "Rule 66 *never ride more than two abreast, and ride single file on narr...

Re: Cyclists

You are so right - they put on Lycra and disengage the brain. They must have special pouches in the Lycra for their brains I suspect - I have instances or two and three abreast in single track roads - stopping in a gaggle right on a junction blocking the road. Stopping for a drink just round a blind...

Re: *ACCIDENT*

Similar to my accident in 2013. Woman turned right straight into my side. Result written off - the rear wheel to silencer gap reduced from 2cm to 2 mm suggesting bent rear sub frame - alo forks damaged and every fairing panel (this was on a R1200ST). Also I got cit lip gashed leg and fractured vetri...

Re: What are the odds?

what are the odds that they both have badly scratched number plates. Must be a car park vandal :D Playing spot the differences (apart from the obvious Number plates / GB label): Rear indicator lenses. rear tyre brands seat colour, rear spring, (nearest camera has Ohlins) tank protector, hugger / no ...

Re: Vintage bikes.

If I were to go vintage it would be modern retro Vintage and therefore probably an Enfield 350 as I m told that the 350 is smoother than the 500. Or perhaps the new 650 twin that's coming.

A people say BMW's are ugly? MCN said "Challenging Looks" I'd agree

Also where's the three point pick up? - I thought all Harley Fergusons came with a three point pick up for the plough :D

Re: BCR starting problem

I would start with the MOST obvious and cheapest option - Where the earth strap connects to the frame - if this gets rusty you will get a chattering solenoid on the starter and loss of voltage to the starter hence laboured starting. All these 1100s are now getting on in years and corrosion will be y...

Re: Tank knee pads

I had clear ones with raised bobbles I think "Stompgrip" was the maker - they make pads for Snow Boards hence the name. Very good quality product but pricey about US$55 a set
