Re: Test rode a R1200S today

John Clark BMW in Dundee are selling 2007 registered bikes (with zero miles) at between £7495 and £7995 depending on spec which seem a bargain. Hi Andy - I'm only two months ahead of you. Always liked the R1200S, but I think they're overpriced at RRP. I found a pre-registered bike at the Motorrad E...

R1200S - Baglux / Bagster tank cover

Had one of these on my R850R & really liked it. Have seen a few pictures of Red / Silver R12S, but none of black, silver or yellow - read that the yellow is a bit lemony ...

Anyone got feedback or pictures to share please before I take the plunge?

I like the Clachaig Inn near Glencoe - just a few hours north of Glasgow where the 'good stuff' starts.

Wouldn't Plod take a dim view of that? I know the chances of seeing a real live Police Officer on the road is somewhat low, but I'd rather not have that conversation myself.

Can you take it off when you get there & pick up in a car etc?

I've never bothered with the in-ear thing, and I have the sound turned off in the car too.

If you have a vague idea of where you are heading, satnav is a convenient double-check for roundabouts & motorway exits, but there's no way I'd have turn-by-turn directions bleated at me.

Thanks very much - looking forward to my rack arriving asap, proving tricky to get to work at the moment with no luggage or rucksack!

Will post photos when fitted.

Cheers all.

Thanks Peter - that's the kind of info I'm looking for!

BMW OEM bags - R1200S

Hello, I see a few have the BMW official bags fitted, but pictures are a bit scarce - only found the three below so far. How are you getting on with them please? Did you have to buy them from your BMW Dealer, anyone phoned around for a better price please? All comments (from owners) valued - quite t...

Ventura Rack, reversed? - R1200S

Hello, Can any of you Ventura users with an R12S tell me whether the optional Sport-Rack can be reversed please? It appears from the pictures (never seen one in the flesh) that the rear rack could be spun around and mounted forward-facing instead, rather than hanging out over the back? I have a smal...

Thanks all - bike was £7,150 all-in, which I make to be 23% off list. Quite happy with that, though it's the same money as the new GSX-R600 will be at at launch this month. I think that the dealer had ended-up with three R12S's all the same, so he pre-registered mine & did another in Boxer Cup c...

New R1200S, first post / intro etc

Hello all! Just traded-in my first BMW (an R850R) for a pre-registered R1200S from Motorrad Central, Dalkeith. It's bog standard, with just heated-grips as an option (so no Ohlins / fat wheel / ABS / fancy clocks etc), and finished in Night Black. 2007 bike on a '57-plate with only 4-miles on the cl...
