Re: R1200S DOHC Project

Thanks for the post, will be interested in further updates.

Just a quick question? - will you be using the R1200 wiring loom or do you need to use the R9T's one?

Re: Hibernation

I also went to the Bike Show (but only because I had free tickets from BSA) - seems to get smaller each year with less bargains - it was nice to see more british boutique brands like CCM, BSA and Langen but the prices were astronmical!. My father passed away in October, so we are currently clearing ...

Re: Trying to grow up.

I just find the whole road tax thing mad! - my R1150R is £102 per year and a V40 Volvo is just £20 - and the Goverment want us to use cars less!!!

Enjoy!

My 2005 R1150R is the same (M1) :-

I am not sure how this can be resolved - maybe you have to go to BMW?

Re: Play at top yolk? Ball joint, bearing or both?

I got one of these tools to help loosen/tighten the top nut on the ball joint as you also need to hold the ball of the joint with an allen key at the same time:- https://www.ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Sealey-Sx042-5024209952729-Injector-Socket-21-X-90Mm-1-2Insq-Drive?gclid=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46uv4-nh...

Re: Hawes- - July.

I came through Hawes on Sunday (18-07-2021) as I had been to the Altberg factory to get measured up for some custom bike boots (located in Richmond). Note the petrol station in the village opens at 10am (but you can get fuel before then by using the card machine outside). Plenty of bikes and police ...

Re: HT / Plug leads r11s twin spark 2003

I couldn't find anyone in the UK who supplied these so I had to go to Euro Motoelectrics in the states to get some for my R1150R:-

Bit of a wait for delivery but good quality.

Hope this helps!

Re: Horn (as in beep beep) for R1200S

I replaced the standard horn on my R1150R with a Denali Soundbomb mini, which was a straight replacement but I am not sure if one would fit on the R1200:-

Re: Upgraded Cam Chain Tensioner

I did mine on my 1150R a few years ago, as Mitch says, the sizes are different and you cannot get a ratchet ring spanner on it (which would have been ideal) and you have to push the tensioner down harder than you think to catch the threads.

Good Luck!

Re: where to buy bmw spares?

My 'go to' place is Motorworks, I pickup the drain washer kits with sump plug, gearbox plugs and final plug washers: -

But they do sell them individually too.

Re: Bike "Dash Cam"

I have used a Drift Stealth 2 camera on my helmet for a couple of years, unfortunately water got in following on of the storms we had in October and it stopped working. I have however just purchased a cheap Chinese GoPro knock off to replace it:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campark-ACT76-4K-Sport-Cam...

Re: Front brake shudder !!

Gerry, you didn't say whether you bled the brake lines or not - air behind a piston can also give you judder?
