Won't start

I have just replaced the gearbox and put it all back together. However it won't start! Both plugs are sparking, the fuel pump runs when I turn the ignition on. I have put new petrol in. The plugs are getting wet. However I did bash that sensor which is screwed into the exhaust box. Might that be the...

Catalytic converter

I want to be able to use the R1100s within the London low emission zone, which will expand to within the North and South circular roads next month. There is one bike shop which can fit a catalyst, test the bike afterwards and provide a certificate which the DVLA will accept and thus register the bik...

Sealing barrel to engine block

The BMW manual notes using 3-bond 1209 between the cylinder barrel and the block. Where can I get that and under what name?

Clutch

Desperate for help with this. I have replaced the clutch plate after the centre stripped. It is all back and on the road and rideable - just - but when releasing the clutch lever in gear, the clutch engages very early - less than half way released. There is pressure from the start when the clutch le...

Re: Clutch

Just had a terrifying thought. Is there a ball bearing behind the clutch push rod?

Re: Clutch

Thanks. However it is completely different to how it was before. The clutch is fully engaged with the lever released by only about 20 degrees. Why has it changed? I had someone else replace the clutch plate several years ago when the centre failed but eh feel of it was the same.

Fuel supply?

The centre of the clutch plate stripped on my R1100S. So I remove the rear part of the frame, then gear-box and replaced the plate with another, with a deeper bush, and put it all back. I did not disturb anything at the front of the bike apart from removing the tank and side panels. However now that...

Re: bleedin the clutch

After replacing the clutch plate and putting the gearbox etc. back I am struggling to bleed the clutch. Should I use a pressure bleeder from the bleed tube upwards, or adapt a car pressure bleeder via a bleed nipple into the reservoir top? Getting desperate - having to go to work in London by train!...

Re: Running on one cylinder

I suffered similar. Compression was down on one side. Turned out to be a small piece of grey deposit which had dislodged and was between the valve and the valve seat. I only discovered that after haling the head off and valve out.

It will slip before it snaps, so wait until then.
