Thanks for the replies. I am never sure whether I am running on too full or empty (I just keep shoving more oil in every now and then!). The ideas about dark and silver will help though, and I'm sure that the glass is showing dark (good job eh?). I'll try the idea with the mirror, and at this time o...

Oil Level

Is there a trick to checking the oil level successfully? Whenever I check the viewing glass, I can never tell whether the oil is overfull (and therefore occupying the whole of the viewing glass), or too low (with no oil in the viewing glass). I have tried using a torch, making sure the bike is level...

I have used a Galia waistcoat for the past 2 winters and it has served me well. Also at £109 it is a lot cheaper than the BMW equivalent.

Jolly clever of BR11S to have pasted the whole item into the forum ... wish I'd thought of that! :(

Anyway, it has been pretty well lambasted I would say. Glad I decided to lower my R1100S and stick with it.

I wear 020's and like them.
There is an article in this month's RIDE about how to choose tyres. It shows Bridgestone 020's as a good touring tyre with an element of sports riding as well.

We took off the centre stand on the basis that we would hardly use it and it only adds weight! The truth is that we first took off the centre stand when, like you, we were going for a belly pan. We actualy bought a belly pan designed for a centre stand (schlumberger I think), that Darren supplied us...

It should be pretty basic shouldn't it? You keep your eyes on the vehicle in front on a roundabout, and NOT on the vehicles on the roundabout. Both me and Tony have been clobbered from the back (both times by bikes) due to someone assuming we were going to go immediately onto a junction, rather than...

:( :( :( 830mm seat height - no chance for me of even one toe on the floor, that's tall and way out off my range.
