Re: Exhaust differences BCR

and a general feeling of reluctance to pull unless you wrenched open the throttle, when it actually felt surprisingly quick. . What set up did you have before you returned to standard? The above symptoms sound a bit like a failing ( slow switching) lambda sensor., Afaik above 60% throttle opening t...

Re: R1100S engine number

You got me thinking , so I've just had a look and although it was visible years ago the paint on most of the engine has departed (including the vertical strip below the middle of the R/H cylinder) and oxidisation has made the numbers less visible . I tried chalk but that didn't help , brake cleaner ...

Re: Oil light and Speedometer problems.

Thanks for the reply , I've found some corrosion on the blue connector terminal that connects the speedo to the R/h electrical box and I'll have a good look around the loom below the bars. Unrelated , I realised I hadn't inspected the alternator belt in a long time ... ( 50k miles to be exact ...

Nice collection with the latest ones at least for very little, keep the photos coming if you get an electric bike too.

Oil light and Speedometer problems.

Recently after cleaning ( no pressure washer) my '99 1100s which is currently used infrequently but in all weathers , I took it for a spin just to dry it out before garaging it. I noticed that the speedo had stopped working ... bugger, that 'll be the connector under the r/h rear panel I thought. St...

Re: The Wild Atlantic Way

Thought after Dublin we'd head west and then possibly do a loop south following the coast and ending in Cork. What do you think? B. Sounds like a good idea , there's Tralee the Blennerville windmill if you're into that sort of thing , the Conor pass ( i've cycled that one ...) the Ring of Kerry, Ki...

Re: Strange handling

I've had thrumming vibration on my S since I bought it back in '04 . It has covered a lot of mileage since ( currently 123k miles) and the front bevel box bearing did become noisy at one stage but I had a spare one ( bevel box ) so just replaced the complete thing. Some people on here have documente...

Re: The Wild Atlantic Way

Hi, . Probably looking at 5-7 day trip. Travelling from Holyhead to Dublin and return. Cheers, Bob Living in Dublin , I've done bits of it as day trips while travelling to photo rally points . I'm not sure if 5 days would be enough to do the whole thing , depending on the time of year, tour buses e...

Re: Unbalanced & drippy

Ideally you want to check the valve clearances before balancing the throttle bodies and I guess while you're at it maybe do a compression check . If you think the problem is injector related it's an easy job to swop them over and see if the "problem" transfers to the other side. I've had m...

Re: ABS-ectomy

ABS-ectomy. When you went back to your insurers to declare a 'modification', what reaction did you get when you said "I have removed the ABS"? It's a bit of a grey area , but most brokers only understand the yes or no answer to the question " does the vehicle have ABS " even if ...
