Re: Hibernation

This winter I decided I'd lost interest in trying to keep multiple bikes clean and salt free so hibernated then all except the 125 Honda purchased new in 2019 that I tend to use for urban commuting. The reasoning being that it seems to rust regardless of the attention it gets , exhaust painting has ...

Re: My 2004 R1100S Diary

Interesting take on the exhaust repair, having owned my '99 version for 20 odd years now, I've been through all your repairs and 2 exhausts over a much longer period with 130k miles now recorded. Back in the day though standard exhausts were almost free! I rarely use my 11S now but it's still a crac...

Re: ACF50

I have used ACF 50 over the years , and also FS 365 from scottoil. I've only ever used aerosols of ACF 50 and no more than 2 per year with more than one bike . I see it advertised in what looks like a Litre with a trigger spray which might be the way to go.

Re: Fuel level sensor - How do they work?

A bit of a late reply , I had a photo but I can't locate it , and I've replaced the filter a few time in my 20 yrs of ownership but for some reason I can't remember what it looks like  Part number is 16142306895 for the 11 S and I think it's a white plastic cylinder with a float/ slider inside...

Re: Another newbie....

Welcome , a lovely looking example" Unbeknown to me at time of purchase it has a decat pipe but unsure if the ECU chip has been changed, need to check Just FYI I've run my '99 example with a decat Y piece from '03 with 14k miles to currently 130k miles with no ecu mods without issues .

Sounds good to me , I think that would be approx €1800euro to tax in my part of the world... my 23 year old 1.0L costs €200 euro.

Re: ..... a bit slower

Nice clean bike ,my blue '93 version has been off the road since 2017, realistically it isn't worth fettling and besides , the petrol consumption was 3 times that of my 125 Honda! Or maybe I'm saving the planet for the younger generation...

Re: Father forgive me ....

I've had filters look like that over the years , although only on my 11S , how on earth do you get 60mpg ? Mine averages 45mpg ,and has done since I purchased it back in '04, maybe that's why i don't use it as much lately , my latest addition of the 500cc variety manages between 70 and 100mpg .

Re: New to BMW

Modifying the induct pipe or fitting the real deal , A Lennies induct pipe i . I had a standard set up for years and the Lennies was (and is ) amazing . Throttle response at motorway speeds in 6th gear is so much better that it has me searching for another gear. http://www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewt...
