Re: Garmin Basecamp

Hi John

No solutions, but lots of sympathy. I've spend a lot over the years on Garmin sat navs for motor and push bikes, and tried hard to get to grips with Basecamp but, as you say, it is f'ing useless.

Sounds like I should be giving tourstart a go!

Good luck

Re: East ride of Yorkshire 13th-15th September

Hi Johnny, unfortunately we'll not be able to make the Yorkshire weekend, sorry. We're off to the Picos then and couldn't manage to make the two fit together.

All the best

Re: Welsh Weekend 2019 Group Dinner

Thanks for organising all this Steve. Unfortunately Sue's not going to be coming with me, but my choices are:

Ham hock
Roast hake
Osborne pudding

Looking forward to it.

Re: R1100S Cubic Capacity on V5?

Like others I'm pretty sure this has been raised before, and I'm also pretty sure all 1100S's are 1085cc but that there are some that erroneously have 1130cc on their documentation.
The official BMW Repair Manual only lists 1085ccc as the capacity for all models of 1100S.

Happy birthday Chris, :occasion6: :occasion6: :occasion5: :occasion6: :occasion6: hope you enjoyed it.

Brewdog's alcohol free beer is called Nanny State and is better than most but I suspect you didn't try any!!

Re: R1100S 5.5 Rear Wheel

the ABS ones are machined shorter to make room for the abs ring

You're right Nigel. I put a 5.5 inch rear on my non-ABS 1100S back in the day. The wheel was from an ABS model and someone on the forum kindly machined up some alloy spacers to make up the difference.

Blimey, what a load of old crocks  :)

Ignore them Steve, look after yourself. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Re: Sad News

Peter We're both so sad to hear about Alan. We have many fond memories of him at Boxertrix meetings, in Northumbria and for me, in Italy as well. He was such lovely person, Sue always made a beeline for him at the meetings to hear him talk on his passions; opera and Yorkshire! Our thoughts are with ...

Congratulations, you're obviously a man of taste :D . They're great bikes, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

As for you Paul, I'm trying to remember all the scornful remarks you made about my GS's :) :)

Re: Applecross Inn

It's very well deserved, stayed there a couple of times. It has a great atmosphere and amazing sea food, but don't venture outside in midge season - you will be eaten alive. Talking to a local who helped out there he claimed her record is over 1,000 covers in a day!! My daughter is already on to me ...

Re: R1100S worn 'wheel' bearings

Thanks guys, that all makes sense.
I'll have a go at adjusting the paralever bearing free play and see if that solves it. If not can look at bearing replacement and ultimately the bearings in the bevel box, but that will probably NOT be a job for this Fly Fifer at least.

Thanks Paul, good report, excellent photos. Looks like a lot of fun, and what's not to like about a couple of nights in Milan. :)
