Re: R1200/1250RS

Disagree that 18l isn’t small for a bike designed for and capable of touring Europe. Also, because you want a break doesn’t mean you want to ‘enjoy’ it filling up with fuel yet again... No disagreement from me, I'd like it to have a bigger tank as although you can get 200 miles out of it in practic...

Re: R1200/1250RS

Hi, I've done about 17K on my Dec 16 R1200RS and would echo Paul's comments on the bike. It's a good all-rounder in my opinion, can hustle along if you want it to and is comfy for 300+ mile days 2 up. My fuel consumption is similar to Paul's. If you're not caning it 200+ miles is possible. Like Paul...

Re: Happy New Year

I'd agree Happy New Year - but we've been out twice over the Christmas holidays wet roads or not - two rides out totalling about 260 miles on the 27th and 30th mashing rides from Essex to Cambridgeshire for lunch empty roads and plenty of grip despite the wet. You're doing better than me, bike curr...

Re: Xmas morning ride....

Excellent Dave, the model looks great, and at 2:1 it's going to be a decent size when it's all finished. I've got a Lego model of a Saturn V with Apollo capsule still to build. 100 cm tall, 1969 parts - the year it was launched! Had it from my 65th birthday - just looking for a clear couple of days ...

Re: Xmas morning ride....

I done a similar thing many years ago on my old R65 - forgot about that until I saw your post. Unfortunately this Crimbo couldn't do it if I wanted as I'm recovering from a dislocated shoulder. On the plus side I've had Christmas off but I don't get paid   Sorry to hear that Dave, what ha...

Re: Xmas morning ride....

Merry Christmas Steve, that sounds like a great way to spend the day. We've got both daughters staying, so getting out for a ride was out of the question :)

Cheers

Re: PCP / aftermarket parts

I'm with you on that one Andy I was within £100 of agreeing a deal on a R1250RS Exclusive (..give me strength) but in the end I was so unenthusiastic about the prospect of owning such a terrible colour didn't bother going for it. I think I even prefer the yellow to the blue - but that's not saying m...

Re: That's how it's done

I'd have to agree, the whole point is that they want every bike to be the same, no room for individuals on a production line! You have to wonder when they say they use people for the jobs that the robots can't do. That's good I suppose, but as the robots get cheaper and more versatile it can't be a ...

That's how it's done

Interesting video of the BMW factory found on the R1200/50RS site. It's a S1000RR they're building but you do see the odd boxer engine.

Re: IanC53

Well spotted Al, Sue was indeed more than a little fed up after waiting for the numpty who was holding everyone up. Probably not as fed up as the poor guy who had the wing mirror on his RT knocked clean off as the bikes and camper vans were so tightly packed in :( . I'm pleased to say everything imp...
