Interesting. I'm pretty sure the rim width measurement should be taken between the inner seating faces - ie, where the bead sits inside the wheel - so I would expect the outside of the wheel to measure wider. How much wider will depend on the design / material of the wheel of course. Does this pict...

My 11S has the five inch rim. Looking at it next to another machine with a five inch, the S appeared to be wider all round. Out came the Verniers, and measured across at the narrowest gap (to match where the tyre rim is seated) I came up with a digital read out of 5.55 inches, seemingly contradictin...

ta, I think given the fact that the OEs are dysfunctional insofar as they don't absorb shocks I'll get some new ones sorted. Sooner rather than later.

R1100S is a bit like being at sea in a small yacht, the weight transfer on and off the throttle has us merrily pitching up and down.. Thanks for the contributions. I've PMd Steptoe, in the meantime the bike stays in the garage, it doesn't feel like putting miles on given the current state of play is a sensible idea. :(

Uh Oh...

Alright? I picked up a lowish miles 1100S (25k) which was in reasonable nick. Unfortunately a couple of hundred miles down the road I disengaged the clutch (lever to bar) slowing in some heavy traffic and heard a nasty percussion section kick in somewhere down below.... Further investigation reveale...
