Re: Rear Drive Bearing

Are you sure it's the bevel box ? The play may be in the paralever bearings, easier to detect if you remove the paralever arm from the bevel box. I've never replaced the large bearing in the bevel box , when the front bearing became noisy a while back but I had a complete spare unit which I swopped...

Re: Rear Drive Bearing

As far as I am aware, there should be no movement at the rear wheel. I presume you mean side to side movement. My bearings were replaced by Mike Overy at Overland and there was an almost minuscule amount of movement. Was this expensive to have a dealer do? just wondering if I can do it myself I've ...

Rear Drive Bearing

Hi all After some advice on if I need to replace the bevel box bearings on my 2001 R1100s and on if it's a fairly straight forward job, a competent home mechanic could do, I also have access to a machine shop. The reason for my inquiry is when I have the bike on a paddock stand and holding the rear ...

Re: northern spain... Picos

Have just booked a one-way crossing for next June 2018 from Portsmouth to Santander £200 with an inboard cabin with en suite, did try for September but just couldn't get the right crossing already. Though 2018 sailings have only just gone on sale? Plan on a few days in the Picos before heading off t...

Re: Motorworworks slave cylinder

Thought I'd reply to show how mine went. When I looked at your post the one they sent me was a different colour to yours. Maybe it's from a different supply, the packaging had no reference to a manufacturer. Not sure if that info would be available from Motorworks

Re: Motorworworks slave cylinder

I had a slave cylinder go on my bike a little while ago, got a replacement from Motorworks. Although it was a tricky job making sure that everything was clean which was the biggest part of the job for me the replacement cylinder slipped straight into the housing without having to move anything I eve...

Re: Tyres

Just to add I've fitted the Metzeler Roadtec 01's on my R1100s after running Bridgestone BT30's and must say they are brilliant in feel and grip. The Bridgestone's were not bad but the front tyre wore almost as quick as the rear.

Re: Givi Tanklock

Cheers for the info Dave I'm going to look into it a bit more, only wanted a small bag for camera and documents. How big is the Fasma bag? and how much would you be looking for it?

Re: Age has caught up with me

Since I can remember I have always gone for sports tourers when buying a road bike and the reason I picked the R1100s when I stopped racing enduro it's been one of the best even though mine is now sixteen years old. I love getting away on it, this year I will be heading to the French Alps but I can'...

Re: '01 1100s clutch slipping.

When my clutch slave cylinder went my clutch didn't slip. The first thing I noticed was the travel on the clutch lever and biting point of the clutch was different from the norm when I left home. there seemed to a lack of pressure at the lever but by the time I reached the bottom of the road everyth...
