Getting Back on the Boxer

Guys, I sold off my R1100S three years ago when my daughter was born. But now I'm nudging up against the big five-oh and the itch to get an R1200S is scratching. There are a lot on sale at the moment (August 2021). I count 5 on eBay and 6 on Autotrader, with a couple common to both sites. Since I'm ...

After the past couple of months that sounds too good to be true, so I'll bring my rain suit anyhow!

Re: Valve clearances.

It could have been that the previous owner just set them incorrectly. Stranger things have happened. All I know is that I couldn't get even a 0.1mm feeler in the exhaust valves before I adjusted them. I came at maintaining the R1100S after doing extensive work on an old R80 over the past year or so....

Re: Valve clearances.

I finally got around to setting the valve clearances on my R1100S this morning. I bought the bike a year ago and have fixed quite a few things but never got around to the valves. It turns out that the clearances were too tight so I had been experiencing rough running at low RPM, exhaust pops on down...

Re: Top Gear

Given the variety and popularity of bike culture nowadays it would make sense to have it as a regular part of the show. They're building into a solid team and Chris Harris has done a few bike reviews in the past. It'd also give them something new to separate them from the Clarkson-era team. Actually...

Hopefully you didn't knock your head at all, but I'd always get a new helmet after any sort of accident, just to be safe.

I replaced my rusty/leaking fork seals a couple of months ago. It's an easy procedure that should take you no more than an hour or so. There's a good step-by-step guide from the 1150gs here: http://www.everydayriding.org/2011/05/r1150gs-fork-seal-and-dust-seal.html More or less the same on the R1100...

Re: R Nine T Racer official launch ....

Yep, I instantly wanted one as soon as I saw it but then I figured; hang on a second, the R1200S is just as pretty.

And it's a third of the price for one in top condition.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Hi Folks, I've been lurking on this list for a few months now and I thought I'd introduce myself. I've just finished a spate of work on my recently-acquired bike. Some of which was necessary, like replacing a knackered starter motor, leaky fork seals and bleeding the clutch circuit. And some of it w...

I think your best bet is to look on ebay.de, there seems to be a lot of aftermarket and original Ventildeckelschutzen varying in price from 100 to 150 euro. Just run a search for R1100S Motorradteile. Many sellers will post to the UK for a reasonable fee.
