Sorry to hear about your fall. The wife of a mate of mine (R1150R) reckons that we should all carry a pot of boiled potatoes (with skins) and throw them at people that pi55 us off. The idea is that the potato is soft enough not to actually kill them (mmm.....tempting  ) but hard and heavy enou...

Sorry, didn't explain that very well.......... :? I have an Arai with a Hyper Optiks (thought it was FogCity)photochromatic insert, which at £22 ish, makes a total investment in the visor of around £55. When the visor is scratched beyond use - the lot is lost. Of course, I'm assuming that FogCity ar...

Al thanks for the info. I use an Oxford Tank bag & Tail Pack (silver coloured) on my 04 BCR - which is fine if you tour in the summer as I do (i.e do not need to pack many clothes). How much is the Givi tank cover? As for tyres I have given up using Sport Tecs as the rears lasted 2000 miles a p...

Pinlock's main advantage over FogCity etc is that the inner insert is not permanently fitted to the visor.
(and therefore, cheaper in the long run)

I must admit, Pinlock could do with bringing out a Shoei-specific insert that covers more of the area.

I forgot about the petrol stations

I know that BP have an official policy on paying for petrol, but I've never seen it applied in practise.

Thanks for that guys :D No mods at all - I have two rear wheels, one with the Metzeler Z4 sports/touring tyre and one with the Metzeler Sportec M1 tyre. The M1 only lasted 2500miles  I recently got the Baglux harness to take one of their tankbags. The tankbag would appear to take a laptop, bu...

If you are looking for a jacket that is the sporty side of touring and like BMW kit................. They have discontinued the Seattle jacket and trousers (I have these and like the length of the jacket and the way it's nailed together) But......they have introduced a suit called "Boulder" that app...

goretex is supposed to be fully waterproof AND breathable (presuming you haven't put it through a washing machine  ). based on some of my previous raincoats, if it is fully waterproof and non-goretex, i would have thought you'd start sweating a great deal quicker than in a goretex lined item?...

Just noticed this question and can say that you are quite right to ask ------ you don't want to force any of those plasticky fairing bits - they cost a bloody fortune if you break one.

Rods, Makes sense! You're probably close with the pricing too. But......can you explain "boots - have they got a goretex lining. if you think you might be wearing them for more than 3 hours at a time in the summer, i wouldn't consider non-goretex gear. far too hot... and smelly" I have Goretex boots...

I've not got a flip-front helmet myself, but when you arrive at Imigration at the ferry terminals - you wish you had one!

With a flip-front, you can leave your helmet on

With a full-face - you have to take it off, at the same time as you are fumbling with gloves, passport etc.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with Paul on the Hein Gericke gear, but have a look around, cos I know that some of the dealers still have Dainese gear on serious sale. BMW kit is good, but a bit on the expensive side (I'm not saying that it's not worth it - but I would want to see it in anger before committ...

I've got a Quest and a 2610, The Quest has 143MB memory, so you have to choose the coverage carefully if you go to Europe. The 2610 has 1GB which covers everywhere. But, if you are new to GPS, and don't want to go out and buy a 2610/2720, then the Streetpilot 3 at the price you have - must be a good...
