I have recently purchased a very tidy 2003 R1100S after selling my 2007 R1200RT. Needed a lighter bike so went back to the past. I had a 2002 R1100S from new, of the 6 BMW's I have owned this if my favorite. I'm interested to learn of the technical up-dates to the 8/2003 model over the 9/2002 model....
