I've fitted Osram Nightbreakers H1 & H7 to the headlights and find the light output better but I didn't think the headlight was too bad to begin with. I also ride around Wales in the dark. Might it be worth checking to see if you've got a healthy 12 volts at the lamp sockets? It'd be an easy fix...

I'm new to Boxers too. It was a delight to get back to a mechanical machine rather than one utilising software and data connections...
