Re: Additional Lights Mind Games...

Interesting, got it and thanks for that - I'll take a closer look at some stage. For now mine can stay the 'right' way up and I'll see how it goes. I think they'll go on upside down without fouling anything, and on the last Blue Bike I had them upside down with no problem... But past performance is ...

Re: All Change.....

Blimey, good luck Steve. I've been through one or two of those 11am all staff meetings and it's not fun so fingers crossed for the Triumph gig.

So you'll be on some state of the art effort in May?

Re: Additional Lights Mind Games...

Thanks Steve, interesting how pukka Fleabay can be... I wimped out and threw $$ at a Denali S4 kit; fitted last weekend and will sort alignment in due course. Triggered from the high beam feed (white cable off front connector set, informed by a wiring diagram from GS-Forum.eu). The Denali set comes ...

Re: Hibernation

Mine are tucked up although here in sunny (not) Warwickshire it's been well over freezing so no salt to avoid. I'll just grab opportunities to get some miles on as they arise. Even if it's short it gets the engine running etc. We've just spent a couple of weeks on a road trip in Tasmania (pics to fo...

Re: Additional Lights Mind Games...

Ha, thanks! I did another Google prowl and found a Denali installation guide which helped too. Thanks for the thoughts on 50% beam - let me mull that one. Driving lights on full beam only is fine (and the way I had it before), but when you switch to dip it's an 'interesting' drop in candle power! Th...

Additional Lights Mind Games...

I had additional driving lights on my previous 1150GS. A PO had fitted halogen spots which eventually died, and during lockdown I replaced them with Denali S4s which worked a treat. The PO had had their set up professionally installed, integrated with the headlights & dip switches and wired out ...

Hmm; surely if you were a bike down, keep both? Maybe dispose of the one you like less in a while if need be….

Re: ACF50

Wear gloves with ACF50, it rots human flesh given the chance….

I’m also trialling TechCote Anti Corrosion Spray available ex EBay. ACF goes on quite thick from the spray can and Tech Cote is thinner with good reviews. J

Re: Trying to grow up.

Well done for picking an oil burner! A mate had one fitted with the lane assist and cruise control toys, meaning the thing will pretty much drive itself... A laugh a minute on the Gairloch / Ullapool road and potentially super exciting Down South. .. He was pleased with it though, so hopefully you'l...

Re: Hood biking jeans.

I did the same as Ian earlier in the season and splurged on a pair of Rokkers. Super comfy, wear just like denim jeans, and I've worn them far more than I thought I would. A mate who does a lot of miles recommended Hood, and they're cheaper too. I went for Rokkers persuaded by Motolegends pitch on s...

Best Universal Grit Grime & Effluent Remover

AKA the Handier Household Help (Fred Wedlock)... I'm on an extended bike stroking session on the GS, part of which was to remove the collector box & tail pipe. Predictably the rear exhaust clamp was corroded on tight and I ended up taking the whole lot off in a oner, then liberally applying Plus...

Re: U.K. Clean Air Zone - Happy Days!

Just resurrecting this one briefly... Subsequent to my rant back in June I've given up on ULEZ so imagine my delight to receive out of the blue an email from CC London to say my application has been successful! So rather like getting permission from the KGB, I'll just go with the response that works...

Re: U.K. Clean Air Zone

Hmm, I feel a rant coming on! I think motorcycles are outside the scope of the Brissle CAZ - I looked recently as I need to go there; sorry no link to hand. But the Brissle CAZ is just the centre so if all you need is eg Clifton and beyond you should be fine anyway. I've had a seriously frustrating ...
