Re: R1100s top end rattle

That’s a result eh? I was worried for you because you said you paid only £1k for it, which is an excellent buy. But I thought there might be a reason it so cheap when you mentioned the small end. Perhaps the previous owner was worried the engine would fail before long and just got rid. Glad it’s wor...

Re: Vintage bikes.

There is a guy on PistonHeads that has just splashed a load of money for a 1939 Levis 350. It is a thing of beauty having been restored by the museum he bought it from. The only thing I don’t like about it is the new shiny nuts and bolts. I didn’t say anything, not wanting to pee on his strawberries...

Re: Seized motor

I can’t offer any advise on what happened. Only encouragement to keep on with it as it will be worth it in the end. Second hand parts do come up on eBay for these bikes so that may help keep the cost down. It’s a good thing that you sound okay with the spanners. I have never read about carbon deposi...

I take it that’s ongoing Steve and not a short term offer? Hasn’t the USA been 3 years for a while? It does make it a sweeter deal for sure.

Re: To raise or not to raise?

Ah, I just saw your advice John. After the event, but all went well thankfully. I cracked on before leaving my hotel this am. I was a bit unsure about doing it but in for a Euro... I remembered that there is a tool kit under the seat and it did me proud. Smaller hex key for the bottom hidden bolts (...

Ah that’s a shame Gerry.
Is it on a Spanish plate? Mine has been modded so much there is no way it would get through the checks. If I do move down, that is.

Re: To raise or not to raise?

Thanks guys, that gives me the confidence to crack on. I don’t think the dealer will do it so I’ll just buy the tools I need. Thanks for the details John. I also bought a kit to lower the foot pegs but I got the runaround from the guy drilling out a snapped bolt for me so I ran out of time before I ...

To raise or not to raise?

Chaps, I know that the answer is on here somewhere but my mobile connection isn’t great being lost in darkest Germany. The old shoulders are a tadge sore so I’m enjoying a free coffee at Bonn BMW. I just asked them to raise the bars for me to above the yoke. Below is fine for a blast but not for the...

Re: Grass roots racing in Spain

“No wonder the Spaniards are so prolific in the big race classes , when there is such a depth of racing going on all over Spain.”
I always wondered why the Spanish were so strong in racing. This explains it nicely!
Great photos of your racing days. Must’ve been so much fun.

Hello Herb, I didn’t know you left! Of course I remember you and it’s always nice to see familiar names here. I haven’t ridden the trumpet but I always read good things about them. Let us know how you get on please? I don’t see why you can’t regale us with tales of daring do on whatever bike you get...

Re: R1200S for sale

Well, the worst advert in the world found a buyer so the bike is now sold. Most of the spare bits I had went too, but there are a few items left over that I will advertise more formally in August. A heads up ... front mudguard in red. Screen tinted in red, short Pazzo levers (yeah, red. Actually a l...

Re: R1100s vs 2008+ K12/300GT Which to buy?

A nice dilemma to mull over with several cold beers. I had the K1300S but sold it before jail time as it proved I have no self control. The GT must be superior to the 1100 in every aspect. Power, range, comfort, yada yada .... But it ain’t a Boxer S. the character, sound, looks, what else? It’s head...

I can’t remember this coming up before. Has yours given up?
Mine has time against it but it’s still low mileage.

Re: R1100s Oil Filter Removal

I’m reading it that the old filter is bigger? Which Higham are you in Ian? If in alfreton I could pop up with my tool (ooh er missus)and see if that works. I haven’t come across a larger filter before. Due to the recess it could be a bugger to get it out. Send me a pm if you are the local one. If yo...
