Re: new to me R1100s - bodge fixing #1: Rear light

I'd hold onto the HID , as you say they are like night and day versus a standard bulb and still better than the current crop of Xenon filament bulbs.
You're probably aware , but make sure it's all switched off before you go looking at the wiring ( serious high voltages when it strikes up)

Re: 1200 injectors for the 1100.

I have a Y piece fitted , Lennies Induct fitted and I never got around to fitting the sprockets that I purchased s/hand on here  mainly because I was happy enough with the powerband. As I've mentioned many times on here I've owned my bike since the early noughties and the bike has 120k plus mi...

Re: 1200 injectors for the 1100.

There is a thread on Pelican about this. I'm just wondering if anyone here has these fitted? Any comments on them? ! I'm resurrecting an old thread but I've recently fitted a set. https://www.tills.de/BMW-Boxer/engine-96/ It's early days yet and I guess in the interests of a proper comparison I'll ...

Re: Misfiring? 1100s please read help req

I can't help with a local mechanic but joking aside if you've no vacuum gauges you can make a manometer with some clear tubing , oil, and a piece of timber . To speed up the idle you can open the large brass air screw on each throttle body an equal amount as a temporary measure. If you do decide to ...

Re: Misfiring? 1100s please read help req

Difficult to diagnose but If you're going to check for water in the tank , change the fuel filter while you're there . After that it's really just methodical checking . Do a quick visual check for the small rubber blanking plugs under the throttle bodies on the vacuum take offs. ( one might be missi...

Re: BCR rebuild/recommission

I I wasn't particularly unhappy with the suspension prior to parking it up 4 years ago but it would be nice to have everything done in this hit, any suggestions/knowledge on what's a good buy and from who? Although I don't use my S much these days , in recent years I replaced front and rear with Wi...

Plenty of threads on here about them, some love some loathe them . Probably best to start a new thread to discuss the merits !

Do a refresher course with a local instructor... and if you still want to return ,book as many test rides as you can on as many different manufacturers bikes as possible .

Re: Running Costs

Should I be seeking medical assistance? Maybe we all should , but I reckon biking is cheaper than therapy so maybe it should be available free on the NHS or equivalent. If you want inexpensive biking I reckon a middleweight is your best bet . I did similar miles on a Y2K CB500 a good while back and...
