Re: Oil in air box

Thanks for the reply. Haven't drained it, as only just noticed it. Fuel filter recently changed! Could it be a crankcase breather problem, or is it best to bite the bullet and get it compression tested? The oil deposited doesn't look contaminated or emulsified, could that mean it has bypassed the pi...

Oil in air box

I have a 2003 twin spark 1100S. It has Irridium plugs and a Lennie's Induct fitted by the previous owner. It runs well when warm and returns upwards of 50mpg 2 up with panniers. It's not chipped, has Y piece and original cans. Throttle sync, valve clearances, coils and electrical connections + temp ...

Ok, Thanks, think may have to go that way. Will fully charge it immediately before use and see how it goes. if that cures it, then will have to change it.

Just measured voltage across the battery, bike not used since Saturday; 12.5V. A bit inconclusive really. Charging overnight, will see what resting voltage is tomorrow. Don't think starter motor is an issue at the moment (though magnets on my older R11 came away from the main starter motor body.....).

R1100S Twin Spark poor starting

I have a 53 plate model; it seems to have an intermittent problem of turning over and over before finally starting. This is usually from a cold start, but not always. This has been going on for some time, but seems to have got worse. I recently serviced it including oil, filter, valve clearances, ne...

Centre stand

Hi,

Did the stand come off a standard model, or the 'Sport' model? (The one with yellow springs and a 5.5" rear wheel).

Thanks

Front end issues?

I have a 2002 R1100S. It seems to have developed some slight play in the front end. This is noticable at lower speeds over ripples in the road, and when pushing the the bike over lumps. It feels like the lower end of the bike is slightly disconnected from the bars. I have checked all the fixing scre...
