Thanks Mitch.

I've decided to bite the 10mm socket and remove gearbox etc so I'll let you know.
Shouldn't take very long ......

Re: 03 11S. Clacking noise from clutch area when hot.

Not much help I guess but I posted on here about engine noises at 65 k miles , did some investigation , replaced a camshaft and followers , engine is still noisy at 115k miles.... I looked at lots ,pushrods with pressed on ends (apparently the ends can become loose when they heat up) replaced with ...

03 11S. Clacking noise from clutch area when hot.

Hi All. Looking for ideas from knowledgeable souls to help me get to bottom of this: I've eliminated these sources of clacking noises: - cam chain tensioners/guides. - timing chain tensioner/guide (front of motor). - TB butterfly spindle bearings - L & R. - TB vacuum imbalance. Symptoms: - start...

Re: If there is one complaint I have re R11s

Shortened GS telelever fitted tonight... quick 'shakedown' ride in prep for a ride tomorrow... who would have thought 10mm could make such a difference. . . it generally makes the steering that much lighter & faster... AND i know have a little less nervousness when on side-stand... NOT a bad ou...

A devilish moment >:-] ...

... in the life of HerrFlick.

Had to turn off a main road and circle around in the back blocks until the last '6' ticked over. Got a few suspicious looks. :-)

Re: If there is one complaint I have re R11s

@gerryb the R1100S models the shorter 365mm arm (33 17 2 314 179) is only used if the bike has the OEM 'Sport' suspension, otherwise it gets the standard 385mm (33 17 2 312 549). Checkout ebay or ask on the 'for sale' forum on boxertrix. I have one of these but wanted to ride as-is for a while to e...

Helmet Tech and Helmet Cooling.

https://motorbikewriter.com/hi-tech-bike-helmet-keeps-cool/ While this generally is of no concern to (forum) riders in higher latitudes (like in freeze-yer-nutz-off UK), how about everywhere else? R-bikes are sold globally, so it it's reasonable to assume that the readership of R-bike forums is also...

Re: Flat twins

And the LE Velocette. You learn something new every day - two new things today: 1. The Velocette LE had/has (those that still survive) a horizontally opposed twin engine 2. That I'm really unobservant, having never noticed that fact in spite of having seen many in my life. Never ridden one, though....

SP250 wrote:Don't shorten the side stand - get a GS shorter rear torque arm and fit that.
Jacks up the rear ride height and makes the steering slightly quicker and the bike leans over more on the sidestand so it doesnt fall over - win win.

Re: Performance upgrade.

I've been reading about a really easy modification for my R1100RS that improves engine performance. Basically, you swap the rubber intake tubes, for those used on the 1100GS. It's a very easy quick job that apparently makes a big difference. I just wondered if the same mod might be useful for you 1...

Re: R1100S Front Tyre. Update. :-)

The good news continues. Have now covered a couple of thousand km on our scratching roads in the nearby ranges, and all I can continue to say is "wow!". OK. Probably the norm for most ppl here, but given that I was ready to sell HerrFlick because of the nervous, unsettling understeer with ...
