Breakdown Cover/Insurance in Spain

Having bought the R1100S to do some touring and persuaded 'madam' that it is a good idea, the ferry is booked. Today I thought I'd better check what the cost of breakdown cover was in Spain. The AA quoted £140 or £105 depending on level of cover. For a 11 day trip this seems a little rich. Apart fro...

Brembo Bleed Nipple Thread (MY 2000 R1100S)

During the recent service at RGM Roy was unable to change the brake fluid on the RH caliper as the BMW Filling Valve (in place of a standard bleed nipple) had failed. Unfortunately he didn't have a spare so I figured it'd be a quick job to change. After a call with Steve at Southport a bleed nipple ...

1125R and later CR were 'troubled' bikes with a few interesting characteristics (fuelling was never brilliant, water cooled engine meant fuel boiled in the frame on hot days, poor clutch slave cylinder was never really sorted, problems with the alternator stator). The potential cost of ownership (wi...

the Akra LE was just that, a limited edition fitted with an akra pipe as standard. The RC8 (non R) was built between 2008-2010. In Orange, Whtie and Black. Early ones were stiff as hell and had some recalls. The RC8R (Orange not Black frame) was I think 2009 onwards. The 2009 model is the one to hav...

RC8 is a great bike....I would say that I have one. One of the reasons I just bought the 1100S was to do some touring 2 up as the RC8 is certainly not built for that! £8K for a new 2010 model so in some ways I'll be surprised if he gets £6.5 for it. He'd be better taking the aftermarket kit off, ret...

Aye, one at a time is what I did a couple of weeks ago the day after I got my bike......just couldn't stand the upright position with the bars above the yoke (esp compared to my RC8). Just be aware the wheel will 'flop' once one of chrome portions is removed from the yokes. But it is easy to align a...

Assuming you are talking about an R1100S it is a piece of the proverbial. No need to jack the front end up, the telelever uppers just fall down (I put some masking tape on them to make sure they didn't fall too far....not sure this is necessary though) when you slacken the yoke bolt and remove the h...

Also looking for something similar on a 2000 R1100S. Apparently the connector I have would mate to a 83 30 0 402 343 (connector and fly lead). surely there must be a cheaper 'alternative connector available? Or perhaps I will just get the soldering iron out to sort out a Tamiya connector for the opt...
