Re: Ueli Steck
The thing that stunned me more than anything else about 'The Swiss Machine' was his utter confidence in his front points of his crampons when on mixed ground. A lesser mortal, gently weights them and assesses if it's ok, but not Ueli. I don't think his weight was on them long enough to be an issue :...

Re: R1200rs Hugger
Thanks, that's good to know. I've just been fitting the bush in the hugger and took a good look at the reg/rect and it appears it's a Mosfet type like the ones that I replaced on one of my Buells and my Ducati. They run a fair bit cooler than the more usual shunt type as they only take the current t...

Re: R1200rs Hugger
Looks good, but how does it affect the air flow in this low pressure area over the Rectifier? If it's a shunt type reg,(Mosfet type less so) it'll need to dump lots of heat.

R1200rs Hugger
I collected a fibreglass hugger for the RS today and have just done a trial fit up. I may be over thinking this, (I'm not an engineer) so I'd value the advice of others who've put one on their bike. It came with all the necessary hardware, x8mm allen set screws which fit behind the bevel case, and o...

Re: Brecon TT
It's some years since I had a trip around their 'Blending Room' in Shrewsbury, so you may well be correct? It was by invitation of a mate who married into the Morris (lubricants) family. Phil Morris is a local businessman from Oswestry who I also had a passing aquaintance with.

Re: Brecon TT
Phil Morris is one person behind the organisation of the event. Part of the Morris family in Shrewsbury who own Morris Oils, a string of carehomes and a large construction and development company. He is not short of cash and set up the Oswestry road racing bike museum a couple of years ago. I guess...

Re: Race bike stuff-new toy
I've just noticed this thread mentioning a starter device. Any chance you could Post a few pics of it, as building one for my race bikes is going to be a winter project. I'll probably get some good ideas from looking at yours. Ta very much

Re: Brecon TT
There's been a big meeting with the owners, Council, and Solicitors over in Scarborough, and I suspect that racing will go ahead next year when some alterations have been made there. I sincerely hope so, as I'm a member of the Auto 66 Club that uses the circuit. As for the Welsh Road Race, there's a...

Re: Pannier supports
Don't know really. Contemplating some S/h hard cases of EBay since they won't be used very often, or some Oxford throw overs I've found in the attic. I did make the plates with a thought of strapping some 20lit Kriega bags on, but I'll give it more thought when I get more idea about what Mrs Adam wa...

image.jpg f image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I knocked these up today, being a tight arse and not wanting to pay BMW £600+. They're a bit overkill, being made from 5mm Dural I had left over from some engine plates I recently made. I can live for weeks out of a tank bag, but Mrs Adam has a very unsuita...

Ugh.....a tarted up Girlster! Probably with Learner legal power I bought one for my wife after she passed her test, it was soon chopped in for a Buell, which really are the 'thinking mans Vincent'. The Buell was superior to my NorVin in every possible way.

Re: LEVERS...............
Be very careful buying aftermarket levers. Some don't allow the M/cyl piston to retract far enough (we are talking thous" here) This can cause brake drag several miles down the road and lead to the wheel locking up. An example of this is with Buells. A lot of companies (and MoFuCo Dealers) will...
