Re: ???

Not hibernating, out riding. It was a bit bracing particularly when I encountered 30 miles of freezing fog.

Re: How long is a modern Beemer designed to last ?

Longevity depends how you look after and service the vehicle. Lots of people complain about poor quality finishes who don't clean their bikes or dose them in ACF50 ahead of the winter. I've seen a few manky looking bikes going back under the PCP agreement because the 'owner' only saw it as 3 years b...

Re: Great news people :D

Since BMW Approved started having a 2 year warranty and Euro cover there did not seem much advantage being the first owner when you could pick up a low miles used version for less money.

Re: Ilmberger hugger flew off :(

Agree. Thread lock on the hugger fasteners is a must otherwise it vibes the bolts loose in 1k. My Ilumberger hugger was originally supplied with two fancy aluminium recessed washers to bolt onto. However these sheared through and failed after a time and were replaced with a couple of big stainless s...

Re: Can Anyone recommend a good sat nav repairer?

I've used Sat Nav repairs as suggested above twice to repair my Zumo 550; inoperative touchscreen. The first repair the device arrived back it was not working, 2nd time - damaged in transit, and the 3rd time I got a working Zumo. Turnaround was less than a week each time. To be fair they also didn't...

Heated body warmer - Widder. I find if you keep the core body warm then my hands and feet don't feel the cold even without heated grips.

Also a Gore Windstopper balaclava under the helmet has been the cheapest & best bit of cold weather kit I own.

Sure I read this Chris Harris post or something very like it a few years ago, possibly on the BMW Club forum. I can relate to the general sentiments he outlines. BMW have made some right bloopers with some parts of their designs over these past decades or so; fuel pump controllers, sealed no-mainten...

I've owned and run BMWs since 2001 and covered over 200k miles. There have been problems however BMW have generally always stepped up to the mark in terms of warranty and whatever recalls the factory have instructed. A 2010 GS and 2005 R1200ST both had their rear shocks replaced under warranty. ST h...

Could well be the front wheel bearings; had to get mine replaced at 77k. Early R1100S up to about 2000ish had discs which were 4.5mm; non-ABS. Later bikes had 5mm discs. How do I know? I recently had to replace the worn discs after only 85k miles. Motorworks supplied 5mm Brembo discs. The mechanic f...

The travel insurance policy sold by Carole Nash is also an Axa product. It also covers your riding gear. The travel insurance which is is a freebie part of my Nationwide current account rather unhelpfully does not cover riding large motorbikes hence why I end up buying a specific policy. I have also...

Bmw do short leg lengths in some of their textile suits. Check their size charts for sizes 26 to 28 and you may find a good fit.

Occasionally see people selling these BMW sizes on e-bay. At least with textiles you can always freshen them up int he washing machine with some Nikwax goretex cleaner.

Good find. The website does not seem to mention what average annual mileage the valuations are based on. Any ideas?? Would it be the often quoted 4,000 per annum? Also how much of difference would you adjust a valuation for higher or lower milegaes. Glasses quote approx adjustment £ figures per 1,00...
