You can also buy replacement bulbs which have led's instead of filaments and work out a lot cheaper.

Dave when you say it backfires do you mean backfire through the throttle body or do you mean unburnt fuel igniting in the hot exhaust?.
Did you do the compression test with or without the throttle open?
How badly did you damage the r/c cover could the head be cracked?

. Just a thought! What is the quality of fuel like in Ireland?? Sandbar It's a debate that has gone on for years with holiday makers (in cars at any rate ) reckoning their vehicles ran better in the uk. I haven't heard any debate recently(most of the holiday makers have second houses in europe and ...

Nigel - my first S pinked until I changed the plugs. It was fitted with BKR7EKC (I think) NGK's which depending on where you come from, are the wrong plugs for the S. Or certainly on a '99 bike. Changing them for Bosch FR6DP's cured the pinking in one swoop. These are platinums which if bought from...

Thanks again , i've run it without the plug , it's definitely better without the cat and fuel consumption is only marginally worse although if i give it stick under load , still pinking although not as bad as before. Anyone ever use injector cleaner ( i'm clutching at straws now and if so what brand...

OK - when I had a cup of tea and a think it's obvious innit - one throttle is opening ahead of the other, so I did the stuff to adjust both throttle cables tight till they just cause the revs to rise then balanced off the right throttle and hey presto - no more than 1.5 at max sensitivity revving t...

Finally fitted a remus y piece ,(haven't ridden the bike yet ). The cat code plug is the one at the front of the left hand relay box? . Is it just an empty yellow relay box with 2 shorted pins?. Runs ok with or without although looking at the exhaust ports when fitting the y piece it looked like the...

Z6's are hard to beat generally , wet or dry but never got anywhere near 7k miles
Currently have Dunlop 220st's (180 rear ) mainly due to price . Slide around a lot more than z6's but seem to be lasting better.

Creep up on the cat, grab it by the scruff of the neck and stuff it in a sack. Weigh down the sack with big rocks and, undercover of darkness, toss the sack into the deepest water available :D If you must run a standard system then you can expect poor fueling from most peoples experience here. Ok t...

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but would anyone have any ideas on excessive pinking? I've tried different brands of petrol , and currently have done valve clearances, balanced throttle bodies, new plugs( whats everyone using @the moment?) The bike is running better than it has done in the las...
