The eBay supplier for the 4PK611ELAST has mailed me to say its out of stock, so they've refunded me - I'm searching around for another one, but they're obviously not in commom usage. I assume BMW introduced the 592ELAST and 611ELAST because the original 592 was such a pig to fit as a service item, a...

I've ordered a 611ELAST, but it won't be here till Wed/Thurs. I'm sure I've got this right - early bikes up to 7/2003 ish had the older-type alternator, non-freewheeling pulley, that used the standard 611 belt. after that date, a freewheeling pulley was used (bikes with it have a small triangle embo...

I think the conclusion, other than that Hull accents are fine, is that a 611ELAST will fit bikes that originally had a standard 592 or a standard 611. Somewhere on one of the Yank sites, a guy explains how the 611ELAST is easier to fit to a bike originally having a 592 because of its 'give'. I'm goi...

Ooh er chaps! A bit more digging done, turns out Conti do 2 types of 611 - the 'standard' poly one, at a nominal 611mm long, and a 611ELAST, which is 592mm long but can stretch to 611mm if needed to. So, a 611ELAST is perfectly OK if a 592 is already in use - just under a tenner on eBay. Guess what ...

Alternator belt.

If anyone's thinking of changing theirs, I recently found out that the belt used - Continental 4PK611 (supercedes the 4PK592) - is the same as the one used on a 1990s Hyundai Accent power steering pump! BMW price is around £18/19, eBay when listed for the R1200 in its various guises its around £14/1...

The overnight ferry every time for me - after the 200-mile ride down to the southern ports, I like the idea of a night's kip and a fresh start the next morning. I did Caen last year - the crew fastened the bike down with ratchet straps and foam cushions under them, so nice and secure. The only thing...

***SOLD***Kienzle watch.

Hope I'm not in the wrong for posting up a watch for sale - if so, please feel free to delete! Bought for me a while ago ( not a Christmas present, I usually wait a few months before selling them.... ), this Kienzle quartz watch is a bit on the large side for me at 44mm diameter, excluding the...

***SOLD*** R1200S/ST/RT/GS main stick coil.

I have another one of these available, in perfect working order. Handy to have as they do have a habit of failing - new ones are, I think, around £85 from BMW.

Asking £30 to include UK delivery.

SOLD! Richa Alpen II waterproof gloves XXL/11

SOLD These have been worn once....in the dry! Fully waterproof courtesy of the Hipora membrane, very soft goat leather so very comfy from the off, built-in visor wipe. They're size 11/XXL - my hands are a 10.5 and they fit me perfectly. Now discontinued, leftover sizes were being sold a while ago at...

I got a quote last year, just prior to a ride across France into Spain - I thought the breakdown (Emergency Service) would be well worth having. A week before I went, having set up the cover online, I called just to check if 'self-serviced' bikes were covered (my ST was BMW serviced up till it being...

SOLD!Halvarssons Tempel gloves, size 9/10

SOLD!These gloves are more or less 'as-new' - I've only ever worn them twice, in the dry, but they're a bit too tight for me. They are fully waterproof, but fairly lightweight too, an ideal summer/autumn glove. They benefit from Halvarssons' MC Fit technology, which means that the waterproof membran...
