Re: WONT START

My normal diagnosis procedure is to pull everything apart, breaking something in the process, and then find that the kill switch is engaged or the kickstand down.

Re: Sight glass???

Near as dammit upright may not be close enough on a propped up sidestand.
The sightglass may be full of oil in this situation and hence not showing a line, while on your abba stand at true vertical it shows a line at the 3/4 position.

Re: Sight glass???

Were you just trying to hold the bike upright before while checking the oil, rather than having it on a centrestand?

Re: Oil changes

When it comes to oil changes, I do something quite radical. I read the manual and use the spec / grade (though not necessarily the brand) recommended by the manufacturer after thousands of hours of testing and development. Do this and you won't go far wrong. Alternately you could ask the opinion of...

Seems to be an issue even if you do a standard installation perfectly

Re: Sight glass???

seems to be a common problem on oilheads, solved by aftermarket filler assembly, or by removing the valve cover, thouroughly degreasing and installing the insert with both a new o-ring and quality silicone sealant

Re: Header cleaning ... result

Yeah, it's the acid, which the lower grades don't have.
The Max 10 is probably not deemed safe for retail here.

Re: Sight glass???

I think it is actually 3.75l required.(from fully empty including filter) If you have overfilled it with fresh oil it can be hard to tell, but if you start it on the centrestand you may see the level drop into the window. (I have done this overfill too) The procedure for checking is to leave it on t...

Re: System Pannier locks help - oops

I'm sure I came across some tutorials for doing this on Youtube when I was rekeying my set. I had the key so was able to get it out easily but there is a way to remove it without.
I'll see if I can find it again
