Re: U.K. Clean Air Zone

Ah, got it Phil. I have yet to try France, but I don't hold out much hope for either of my dinosaurs. Hey ho! J

Re: U.K. Clean Air Zone

Hmm, I feel a rant coming on! I think motorcycles are outside the scope of the Brissle CAZ - I looked recently as I need to go there; sorry no link to hand. But the Brissle CAZ is just the centre so if all you need is eg Clifton and beyond you should be fine anyway. I've had a seriously frustrating ...

Re: Engine Paint?

OK, ta, I'll have a look. I blow hot and cold on RS paints. The colours are a good match but are water based so you need to apply the lacquer to fix them. Trouble is, the pots of lacquer go off in a few months so if I find myself having to order more in each time... Anyway. I'll check out Hammerite ...

Engine Paint?

Post the Welsh Weekend my next upgrade is to touch up the engine paint where the OE coating has spalled off mainly around the headers, but also the fins / water trap inboard from the rocker covers. In the past I've used POR-15 high temperature silver. It's a reasonable match and has performed OK exc...

Re: Welsh Weekend 2023 (UPDATE)

A massive thank you from me too - great to meet everyone and get away from the rat race for a couple of days. Safe home at ~1:30; wall to wall traffic for a lot of it so gave up trying to 'make progress' as too stress inducing. A couple of nice bits though - not exactly what I'd had in mind but litt...

Is This a Record?

Currently in the annual insurance renewal cycle, trying to wheedle money off £200 or so for next year's cover for 2 bikes... Meanwhile, met a mate yesterday who runs a 1200GS. He's based in London and has now had 4 bikes nicked, including one from outside a police station with full CCTV coverage. He...

Re: not boxer related

Mrs L is on Michelin cross climates which seem to be effective round rural Warwickshire and wear well. Old school Passat diesel estate, creaks a bit now but still effortlessly carrying the world...

Re: Bodycams?

FWIW I use an Innov helmet mounted C5, the older model which of course has been superseded in favour of the H5. I had to return it a couple of times for glitches, but their customer support was excellent and it's been reliable for the last couple of years. I got it after a SMIDSY turned right into m...

Cassington - Was it You?

I helped out at Cassington Bike Night yesterday and wondered if the very smart BCR I parked up on the cricket pitch was anyone here? I couldn't stop to ask as it was raining bikes at the time, sorry! For anyone unfamiliar with the event, it's basically a village fete with bikes. LOTS of bikes. Compl...

Buying from Germany Rant

Now that we've left the EU I've discovered a range of very proper German suppliers of spares and gear... Operationally they've been excellent, but ParcelForce seem to be aggressively charging freight & duty on packages entering the UK from abroad (although so far perhaps not other carriers). Nat...

Re: London ULEZ Anyone?

Thanks Dids - I too have 2 BMWs but #2 is a 1991 R100RS so I haven't bothered even trying for it. I got there in the end though. Reading between the lines, the standard 'submit your details' route seems to be computer assessed so if what you send in doesn't fit perfectly with their world view its ju...

London ULEZ Anyone?

Hi All, I seem to have been off the forum for a while, multiple distractions and I should pay more attention. Back in 2019 I got a homologation letter from BMW, very fancy, sent that and my V5C to TFL and got a letter back saying my 2001 1150GS was indeed exempt from the ULEZ and they'd put it on th...
