Re: Hibernating

Thankfully most of what I do is online anyway so plus ca change... Even so it's wearing a little thin. And the weather's been pants, everything's awash so little chance to do much outside... Managed a visit to the physio (London) last week - all pukka but the first time I've been out of the garden f...

Re: Boxertrix Roll of Honour: Most prolific posters

Thanks Paul - still a proper Real World bike - the one I always wanted since school... Interestingly Shetland is nearer than you might think - from the Midlands it's 450 miles to Aberdeen, then overnight ferry gets you to Lerwick for brecky and you can be at the top of Unst well before lunch. So you...

Re: Boxertrix Roll of Honour: Most prolific posters

Shocker, I'm on there - I'll have a look in the shop... I'm not retired (yet) but since starting to work for myself find a distinct lack of lunch breaks to browse the bollox. Still on the R100RS and the 115GS and got the RS to Shetland in the summer in the pause between lockdowns. Both still seem to...

Re: First Ride for 5 months...

Lucky you! 8 times round the NC500?

95% of my mileage is work-related and I'm just not going anywhere at the moment as it's all wfh. Easing up a little now, but mileage still way down on normal...

First Ride for 5 months...

Today I'm off to the dentist on the GS; it's been sat in the shed since 10 March. Pump up tyres, oil visible in sight glass so I guess it all works then :D . To be fair I've been out on the RS a bit (including a reprise to Shetland), but overall mileage has been a fraction of what it was - and likel...

Re: London Emission Zone

Hmm, I've just got my 2001 1150GS single spark sorted with literally no problems. Proper letter from BMW saying it's Euro1 compliant and emits 0.03g/km NOx, scanned and forwarded to TFL via their web link, scan back from TFL saying fine and they'll update their records. Stunned to be honest; there m...

Puffin Hunt...

Just back from 2 weeks in Greater Scotland seeking puffins... Up the west coast sort of, Warwickshire to Moffat / Buccleuch Arms, one of John Fergusson's scenic routes to Shiel Bridge - Glen Coe simply overrun with tourists - every flat space coated with people milling about, and drivers who seemed ...

Re: Who changes their own tyres?

I do, sort of. Key driver being I'm quite anal and prefer to have tyres balanced (I have 40g or something on the rear of the GS as standard  ); and it's now 30 miles to the nearest place which will balance them. So Dave the roving tyre man takes them off and puts them back on for me for a fiver...

Re: Turning & Beeping

I have a Signalminder self-canceller fitted to the 1150GS and I have a spare off my 1150RS if you're interested. Does other clever stuff too. Straight replacement for the stock relay, fit and forget.
