Re: Engine rebuild,

Hi, I'm sure Andrew Sexton in Hook Norton could do it; he's been around beemers for years. Old school so no email or website; workshop is 01608 730111.

Re: London Emission Zone

My 2001 1150GS (single spark) was previously out of scope, is now in scope. So no more biking to the City on tube strike days. And from 25 Oct 2021 no more biking or even motoring to London at all... Complete joke.

Shortest ever Scottish Trip?

Had planned to revisit Knoydart & environs, starting Tuesday. Got as far as The Buccleugh in Moffat (highly recommended btw), frantic emails from work, business in crisis. Weds morning spent on phone, then out of The Buccleugh turm right for the M74 South rather than L for a dander North. Trip h...

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder

Drop beemerboneyard an email? All the US suppliers I have dealt with have been helpful & efficient, the only downer being freight and duty on importing spares - nb duty is on item cost plus postage... When my slave went I just bought a replacement unit from Motorworks... The real frustration wit...

Re: Annoying Fluid Leak...

Yay, getting there and I'm not going insane... Warks to Brum to London & back to Warks this week, all good seemingly. Did the paper thing overnight and I have my leak back, but it's definitely coming off the bottom of the shock mounting and the base of the shock just below the adjuster is wet. S...

Re: Annoying Fluid Leak...

Yep, thanks for that, looks like a plan... Just been out there with a mate and the clutch seems fine, no obvious leaks; the rear wheel seems to damp ok, so we're stumped... I have to be in Brum tomorrow, so 35 miles each way, mixed town & motorway, easy route and daylight; and I'll give it a goo...

Annoying Fluid Leak...

Hi all, the 1150GS seems to have dropped fluid on the floor below the back of the gearbox, ie since I parked it in the shed on Thursday night. It's clear and tasteless (thought it might be water from the last hose down, but it's definitely fluid). The underneath of the flat section just forward of t...

That Is insane... How do they do it and how do they make the glider strong enough?

Men in Sheds....

Just came across this, clearly black has a rival for the fastest colour. ..

Re: Clutch replacement

Hi, I did the clutch on the 1150 GS a few years back out of Haines and it went ok. No need to take the engine out but a trolley jack to support the gear box & final drive is a must. Usual caveats - take your time, methodical, lots of photos and you'll be fine although it will look ghastly! Have ...

System 6 Helmet Clearances?

It looks like dealers are selling off System 6 EVOs with the new System 7 coming in. Some very good prices around on fleabay just now, although the nicer designs / colours and commoner sizes will doubtless disappear. You do need to know your BMW helmet size though... FWIW the only (in French) review...

A Wry Smile...

I'm teaching a "finance for non-finance students" module in Birmingham this term, so we look at case companies and see if we could run them better... I'm spending a stunning evening going through the AA's financials for this week's seminar, to find that illustrating the roadside assistance...

Fuel hose?

Another take on stale fuel. .. I'm looking to replace the fuel hose again on the R100RS. Only did it a couple of years back and it's already failing on one side where it pushes on to the pet cock. Last time I got some standard braided hose from Motorworks but I'm rather losing confidence. I'm lookin...
