I have had an hour on a 1290. What a great fun hooligan machine. Sensible electronics on it (the traction control certainly helps to tame the beast). Great brakes and handling inspires confidence. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RTyex0d36kM/VDmaV86z8BI/AAAAAAAAHgo/mbi9pEhMsZ4/w984-h553-no/DSC_035...

I tend to change fluid every 2 years, for two reasons: - since it is hydroscopic it WILL absorb moisture that will in turn lead to some corrosion inside the brake system, which I imagine will a bunch of complex and expensive components on an ABS bike. It'd be interesting to understand if these units...

I have an M5X carbon (matt with Orange stripe) for purely aesthetic reasons on the Buells. It looks cool and is very light, but as a helmet is is nowhere near as good as my Shoei........it's drafty and louder, it does't have a pinlock insert available, the visor needs tools to change it (though mine...

Surely you can justify both as they are 'different beasts'?

And I reckon you'll get used to the swithgear.... perhaps it is becasue I am riding the BMW a lot at the moment (it being winter), if I get on any of the 'normal' switchgear bikes now it is them that feel 'wrong'

Best to use a cut down 14mm allen key section inserted into a 14mm ring spanner. Works a treat.

Wot DT said......though I just cut down the allen key and used direct.
