Re: Which security/alarm system do you recommend for the r1100s ?

Also you may consider a tracking system. Lots from not much money using phone and an app linked to a sim in the unit up to fully monitored tracking systems such as the one I had. As stated though it is preferential to prevent the theft in the first place. Is the bike on a drive, in a garage or in th...

Re: who has moved on from the 1100s?

I have done some mega runs on my 12S (3000 miles in 10 days) and the bike has been comfortable and trouble free. The issue with the 12S is luggage. I'm lucky enough to have the panniers and a tailpack for mine but they are expensive and second hand ones are like hens teeth. Never had an 11S but from...

Re: Its Back

I suppose when you have relatively low mileage bikes like some sportsbike riders it is probably once every two years which doesn't seem so bad. When you are racking up miles its a bit steep at once a year although the normal service for the shock would only have been £130. Mine needed a bit more wor...

Re: Its Back

Its over 100,000 miles old and Colin at !00% suspension thought that it could have been due to fatigue and the potholes in Britains roads
They should be serviced every 10,000 miles apparently!

Its Back

Back after a full rebuild and service. Good job too as the collar that holds the spring at the bottom was cracked! A massive failure waiting to happen.
Total cost of £243 with parts and labour

Re: Cone Head

Tried Maxxis a few times, even done a trackday at Cadwell on them and they performed really well. I wouldn't pass over them as a tyre choice, especially at the prices you can get them for.M&P seem to do some good deals on them. As Chris Walker said to me, todays tyre technology is far in advance...

Re: Cone Head

Tried them and its a little disconcerting when you get it right over. The edge seems to move a little and although the grip is fantastic, it feels just a little weird. Not sure if I have a spare brand new front in the garage, I'll have a look.

Re: Austria MotoGP

It was certainly one of the most interesting race endings. I thought Marquez was on for a win but for a bike change i'm sure he would have. Interesting to see the massive difference in lap times on wet tyres, 15 seconds a lap!

Apparently the 1200S ones do not fit any other bikes. I stand to be corrected but think that they were made only for that model

Re: Rear shock removal

Well, finally got the bolt out but at a cost. Had to destroy the bottom bracket of the rear Ohlins in the process. Even then I had to cut the bolt in half, screw out the threaded bit, cutting bits off as it touched the 'non captive bit that I had stripped. Once the threaded bit was out, it took a ha...
