Get a gps unit, try this from gps warehoues:- http://www.gpsw.co.uk/about/page8.html I brought one in the summer, £150 for the lot! Good piece of kit. You'll need a power socket to run the thing (it uses loads of batteries) but there bloody handy for charging the battery and your phone, for which yo...

Front shock

Bit of a draft question but does the knob marked 'hard and soft' (wish I had one of them) just behind the top yoke control compression damping and not pre load? I am thinking of fitting some Hagon shocks to the bike and was wondering if anyone else has them. I've got one on the Triumph Tiger and it ...

Sorry, can't help on the cast iron disc question other than yes, they'll rust like hell but was wondering if the disc bolts are loctited on?

I've sheared a few on an old Suzuki GS before I realised that I should use the heat gun first.

Joe, Ventura do a kit for the R11, I fitted one to mine the first day I got it, 3yrs ago and still prefect. It's a bit pricy but you can get a grab rail to replace the 'pack rack' when not in use. Bags are top quality kit, never leak nor any zips broken. Hein Gericke do them so check out the web sit...

Quest mount on 03 R11 plus one hot (boxer) dog

I've been speaking to Steve (the RAM man!) from gps warehouse who has suggested that I consult the collective wisdom that is Boxertrix!! So, here's hoping you can help. I would like to fix the Quest to the bike with a yoke mount (RAM-B-121-238 plus cradle) but Steve was unsure if it fits the later m...

Tall screen for R11

After a slate fell off the roof onto the bike (things like this are meant to come in threes and they certainly have this weekend), I need to replace the screen. :( The bike has the BMW taller screen which came with the higher bars. Any suggestions on which one to go for? I'm happy with the shape etc...

Just in case you didnt know all the black painted screws on the S are stainless steel, just drop them in some nitromores and then polish. Boxerdog, Thanks for that. I thought they where as the black was flaking off but was'nt sure. Why do they paint stainless?? Seems to be a real mish mash of mater...

Fixings turned up from desmoparts in about a week. Not all the bits that I expected, sub frame fixings, disc mounting bolts etc but some I wouldn never have thought of - foot peg rubber fixings and number plate light mount. Didn't use the mirror fixings as the orignal look better, other than that, v...

Thanks for that guys, just saved me a forture.
I got the Remus from Motorworks and it was a very good price, guess they make their profit elsewhere!!
I've ordered a kit from desmoparts in the states for $50 (about £30) delivered. Will let you know what it's like when it turns up.

It amazes me that BMW have had so much trouble with this water based finish but still use it on spares, I belive the new models use a different finish.
I've seen the stainless fixing kit from Motorworks, any good? (For £160 it should be!)

R1100S finish

:) Hi, New to this forum and would like a little feed back about the finish on the R11. Mine is an 03 in standard trim except a Remus exhaust. The bike has suffuered a lot of corrision on forks, yokes and disc mounting bolts, all of which BMW have replaced under warrenty. I guess that others with ha...
