I've also just fitted a Quest and wired it to the back of the clocks. There's no need to splice as there are ring connectors you can use. On my bike (2003 ABS) brown is earth and green and blue a switched positive. Getting access means taking the screen and front fairing off. Unit is held on thru 3 ...

I set off on the Sunday morning from deepest Fife and after a very snowy 5 mile trundle down some country lanes got to the main road and decided it wasn't going to be worth it. 5 minutes later Andrew S confirmed it was off, so I'm glad I didn't go any further. I've been the last few years and TBH fo...

I can confirm the St Andrews Starbucks sighting  , but Bean Scene is better 8) . Never mind the green welly brigade, there's also the American and Japanese golfers to contend with, driving their hire cars (with gears!) in 'interesting' ways. Until recently there was also the 'Prince Will spot...

I got a good deal on the BMW liners when I bought the bike (good in BMW terms anyway). They work well but as already said not worth the list price. As to the width on the bike with panniers on - it is VERY wide. Had an exciting half hour filtering round the Milan ring road last year - trying to reme...

I wouldn't call it invisible but if you have a 5" rim I've a carbon Pyramid hugger for sale (buying a 5.5" rim meant I had to buy a new one - thanks Sandbar). I'd echo Simon's comments - they work very well. It's in excellent condition, 2 years old. Send me a mail if you're interested. Cheers Ian

Mark

I'd mailed you before seeing this. They're excellent :P :P Knowing the exacting specifications BMW seem to work to anything between 2 and 6 would probably work.

Thanks again

Brilliant :P

That's an offer I can't refuse.

I need 5 spacers, either aluminium or, if it's no problem, stainless. O.D. 20.0 mm, I.D. 8.0 mm, thickness 4.0 mm.

Thanks a lot, I'll P.M. you details

Cheers

Chris

My bike is ABS, but with the later tin ABS ring which is only 1 mm thick. The wider wheel is for the thicker alloy ring. Using spacers is probably the easiest way to go.

ABS ring

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have an old style (aluminium instead of bent tin) rear wheel ABS ring :?:

I've got hold of a 5.5" rim (thanks Andrew) but need either the older style ring, (but not at BMW prices), or some spacers.

Cheers :)

As much as I hate to admit to looking at it, there is a brand new pair of genuine BMW discs for sale on the BMW Club bulletin board. Never fitted, they were bought for a 1150RT, I don't know if they are the same as for the S. As your replacements warped as well you probably are looking for non-BMW o...

Andrew you're right, they are straight forward to fit - it has to be for me to do it - the ballast sits easily under the tank - UNLESS you have ABS. Then the best place for the ballast is hanging off the fairing mount behind the headlights. I made up a mounting bracket out of alloy plate but zip tie...

Same as Lloyd, I suspended ballast from front sub frame (made up a bracket from bottom of subframe) and relocated horn. Also did same re leads, I've got a set of clever punches from way back. Punched hole in rubber cover to take gromit already on new light fitting.
