The one in the link is branded Nortek, but ebay searches show the same item available for a fraction of the cost from china. ...

Not at all, it was £350 when I had mine done, and if you return with another bike you get it discounted to £250 IIRC.

After some deliberation I went with Hilltop for my R1200S, and I could not be more pleased with the result, it is so much more responsive and I reckon its the best money I ever spent on my bike. I thought that Helibars advertised as not requiring new hoses? maybe the difference is ABS vs Non ABS Bikes? I have a set of Helibars that I have yet to fit to my bike, but I was led to believe that they are a straight swap, mine is a non ABS, thankfully 8)

The Laser Y-Piece had the same issue, most people used a shim cut from a drinks can, Pepsi Max IIRC is the exact fit.
