I've heard tales of that nut breaking clean off, leaving no way to remove the remnants of the filter on a R11S as the filter is recessed

It has been a Looong time since I owned an 11S, ( just worked it out to be 11 years ) But if I recall correctly the STD end can(s) have a quite tortuous route after the up pipe exits the 1st silencer, so in effect if you could just seal the 2nd silencer off, you would not lose too much in the short ...
