Re: R1200R R1200S hugger compatability

The Ilmberger bolts might not have the captive washer, I just ordered new final drive bolts from Motorworks and cut the washers off. Only cost a fiver. The thickness of the hugger is the same as the washer and you just torque to specification. Would love a special little bag though.

Re: R1200R R1200S hugger compatability

The original bolts have a captive washer on them if its the same as mine, all you need to do is remove the washer from the original three bolts. Not too difficult but you need to be careful not to damage the threads. The other option is to get new bolts the same length as the original that do not ha...

Re: Rebuilding rear drive unit

Yes, I used Mike for my rebuild on y 1200S as he was 10 miles away from me. I dropped the unit in to him on Monday and picked it up on the following Saturday.
Logistics is the problem i am sure, the work was great and 5 days can't be sniffed at.

Re: Luggage

Drybags are fine, you get a lot in 30l. Did Spain and France with one strapped to the back. Bought cheap tee shirts and boxers from a well known sports store to wear under the leathers and threw them away at the end of each day. By the last day the drybag could fit in my pocket :)

Re: R1200S Battery

Looks like my Motobatt is finally on its way out after 5 years. Starts ok first time but if you stop within a few miles it hesitates for half a second Before turning the engine. Been consistently good up to now though

Not sure if it may be something to do with the rear shock mounting. When I bought my 12S I took the rear Ohlins off to be serviced and the bottom bushes had to be replaced as it seems a previous battery had been leaking fluid and had eaten away most of the bushes! It seems that the rear shock lower ...

220 mile round trip today from Nottingham to Norwich, that went well, cold, raining and roads covered in mud from tractors that lorries conveniently flung all over me and the bike :? Probably won't be the last ride out this year as its the best way to get anywhere, ever. Up to 75,0249 now, too many ...
