Re: R1100S REAR AND FRONT SPRING/COIL SET

Are you intending to refurbish the shocks or just change the springs? I ask as I had my standard GS shocks serviced, new lowered springs set for my weight fitted by a guy on the GS Site, springs come in all colours inc black! All done for just over £300 inc postage.

Re: taking matters into our own hands

Have to agree with Reg, out and about in the van at the moment in Cornwall, “campsite” prices are a min 20-25% dearer than pre COVID, for a field!! Loads of stopover places now with no overnight parking because of the volume of complaints last year about S**t & rubbish dumped everywhere, the soo...

Re: 190/50/17 on a 5.5 inch rim....Certain death??

Unless you have the wider wheel that is fitted to the sport and Boxer cup models the rear tyre size is 170 60zr 17 & 180 55zr 17 for the wider wheel, as Gerry says a 190 profile will be all wrong especially if you have the std wheel fitted.

Re: Smelly exhaust! Running too rich.

I can’t post pictures on here properly, it plugs in under the front of the seat on the back of the airbox, they come in two lengths, the sensor may be close to where it plugs in or the longer version extends to under the headlight area, hope that helps. http://www.boosterplug.com

Re: Smelly exhaust! Running too rich.

With the fast idle open and cold engine it will smell a bit, shouldn’t when it’s hot. Check it hasn’t got a booster plug or other aftermarket add on that kids the ECU it is colder and therefore pumps more fuel in which will smooth the engine out. I had a booster plug on mine and only fitted it in th...

Looking good Gerry, the move to Spain seems to have worked out well for you. Just been for short blast on my 660 to try out some adjustable fork caps, surprisingly chilly in Devon.

Re: Wanted - Front and rear shocks

Do you want new shocks because they are well worn and soggy or want to have a specific type, wilbers etc, I ask as there is a guy on the GS forums that refurbishes original shocks to your spec, very well regarded by the GS world. I have his details if you want to go that route.

Re: Wafers or Tumblers for R1100s panniers

You don’t need to match all the wafers 3-4 will do the job, try a different dealer as a lot of dealers will give them away, you can get new locks to code from bmw for £20, I don’t think that’s too expensive.

Re: clear cylinder head covers

I saw some on a static engine display at one of the shows a few years ago, as an engineer I agree with Paul, mesmerising and interesting, but practical? Not at all, and fitting head guards sort of defeats the purpose of having them in the first place.

I wish, spent all my money on mobile self contained accommodation that I got to use last night for the first time since we met for coffee in Towecester last October.
