if this was a standard bike i would say it would point to knackered head bearings - even the slightest issues with them make the bike a pig at low speeds. I have a 1200 s but haven't done anything with the front end so far though- my feeling is that it could be related to a duff upper or lower ball ...

I've cleaned up similar with polishing mops and soap but to be honest they end up the same very shortly! If you do a search of the forum there will be plenty of advice around - i think some use the wonder wheels acid stuff but i've not tried it myself and i think you have to watch the paint work.

how much is the play - is any play acceptable at all? I would have thought it would be noisy or leaking if there is excessive play - is there any of those symptoms? Never really checked mine - not sure if i dare now - mine has 18k on it. There has been a full final drive on ebay in the last month or...

some really nice r1200s available now - the lull before the storm. Not gone down in price in last 5 years and with only less than 300 left on the road - doesnt look like rocket science to me!

i wonder if the washing is more significant than it appears, In a bit of a doomsday scenario - could significant amounts of water have gone down the air inlet on the right hand fairing - then into the airbox and then the cylinder? Could this also have happened when it was outside - ie large amounts ...

R1200 s - Right fuelling - broken valves and the likes

I have been reading on this forum and on pelican about the likely cause of dropped or snapped exhaust valves on the right hand cylinder. Usually threads end up a bit too scientific for me and discuss the weak fuel ratio and the fact that it is further exasperated by using a straight through exhaust....

ive not had ABS on a bike but the car ones definitely 'pulse' with an associated noise. I assume you are not actually trying the brakes on the road. so i would have thought the ABS wouldn't actually kick in unless the wheels were turning ie the ECU thought the bike is moving?

I found that the front brake line was very tight when the bike was on the stand. I was more worried what might happen over a crest or when the front was unloaded. In the end I fitted a longer front line to ease the fears. I do recall messing with the bar piston and switch but can't remember what I s...
