Sorted...

Bailey, Thanks for the offer. I managed to find an appropriate bit of wire and twist the conductors securely together, then wrapped the joins with some stretched self amalgamating tape. I then re-covered the bundle of wires from the fuse pod to the frame in more self amalgamating tape. That should d...

Thanks Bailey, you're a Gent. I'll check out the relay tonight, and if I'm still having problems, I'll give you a call.

Have you checked the horn relay? Mine worked loose and the horn packed up. Just needed to push it back in. Stempy, Have't checked that yet. I'll whip off the fairing and have a look tonight. In the event that the relay is damaged, rather than simply worked loose, do you know if it's the same spec. ...

Horn problems

Gents, Took the bike in for it's MOT this morning (pillion footrests attached, just in case ) and wandered off for a fried breakfast whilst they sorted it (any excuse...). Came back after 30 minutes. "Sorry sir, it failed. The horn is not working". Now, I've had problems with this about 6 months ago...

Jason - 100 miles to the light??? I take it you're 'enjoying' the bike then :D I used to reckon on somewhere between 120-135 of normal brisk(ish) riding. Totally ragging it I got the light on in 92 miles - but that was caning the living daylights out of the bike. ...or commuting in slow traffic. I ...

The joys of servicing

Gents, Serviced the bike today and managed to get away with only one sheared bolt (top right altenator cover bolt). I replaced the alternator belt using Bailey's patented "quick-'n'-easy" technique of cutting off the old belt (which was starting to split...) and fitting the new belt over the bottom ...

Walked out in the rain to buy them, and discovered that they are Motorcraft AGPR22P, with FR6DP written on in biro underneath... A bargain however at £3.50 a pop, so rushed back to the office an according to a chart I found on the web they are equivalent to a Bosch FR6DP1. Anyone want to try and tal...

Spark plugs

Gents,

Trying to get hold of some "Bosch FR6DP" platinum spark plugs and my local motor factor has "Motorcraft FR6DP" platinum plugs. Is it safe to assume that these motorcraft plugs are identical to the Bosch plugs, since they have the same product code :?:

Anybody know what the MOT position is when you remove the cat.? Bern Bern, No problem at all removing the cat. The only thing they check at the MOT is that the end cans have a CE mark on them. Service time again... Gearbox oil suggestions?

Gents, Time for me to show a cursory interest in motorcycle maintenance again and give the bike a service. One job which is overdue is changing the oil in the gearbox and the rear wheel drive. I have been searching for Mobil 1 gearbox oil, but it appears to be made from highly refined rocking horse ...

Skint, I use the Wunderlich smooth silver central cap which covers the bolts and is held on by two very strong magnets over the wheel bolts. I've had mine for almost 3 years without problems, however there have been some posts on Pelican from people saying that they have lost the newer ones (that lo...
