Re: R18 landed

I like it too. It's taken a little while to make up my mind about it - initially, I was turned off by the shear size of it (ridiculous monstrosity; who needs anything that size), and I'm not a fan of cruisers (I don't dislike them, but I find the seating position very uncomfortable for me). But now ...

Re: Horn (as in beep beep) for R1200S

I replaced the standard horn on my R1150R with a Denali Soundbomb mini, which was a straight replacement but I am not sure if one would fit on the R1200:- https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/341283 Regards, Russ Thanks Russ. I saw that option somewhere else - again not fo...

Horn (as in beep beep) for R1200S

I was manoeuvring my bike in the drive today, when I noticed a disk of rust down behind the cooler, right hand side. It's the horn - still working (in a strangled goose way) - but looking pretty manky. There's one for an R1200S on eBay, but it doesn't look hugely better than mine. I might take mine ...

Vehicle Tax Grumble

I haven't ridden the bikes much this year due to the 'C' word and lockdown, so first the R1200S went on SORN for a while, then Tiger 800 joined it. As lockdown eased, I re-taxed the Beemer, and this morning, I've re-taxed the 800. To tax the 800 for a year is £3 more than to tax my car + my wife's c...

Re: Magnesium Head Cover Restoration

Reckon Steve Turner (used to frequent this forum) would have the exact process nailed down. http://tpcs-magnesium-refurbs.co.uk/ Might even still be offering 20% discount for this forum? http://boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12860&hilit=tpcs :D Cheers. That looks promising. I'll c...

Magnesium Head Cover Restoration

I'm torn between leaving age-related patina alone, or getting the head covers restored or replaced (£170-ish for a new pair). I'd quite like to keep the originals though, even if it costs around the same to get them professionally done (I don't know at this stage what it would cost). They do look a ...

Re: Oops

I occasionally (maybe once or twice a year) have cause to reverse a long trailer - my glider trailer - into a narrowish space between other trailers on the airfield. Plenty of time, usually no one watching, can take several bites at it, but it still causes me a bit of a sweat and a few choice words....

Re: Anyone used Car Covers Factory UK?

If you insist!?? The log is my "Oor Wullie" seat*. It's the perfect height for fettling brakes etc (none of this hydraulic lift workbench nonsense for me). * Oor Wullie, for those who don't know, is a Scottish cartoon boy with spikey hair, by DC Thomson, Dundee publishers, who usually star...

Re: Anyone used Car Covers Factory UK?

It seems the Car Covers UK website is just a sales front for the USA company. But, unlike the terrible reviews I read, my experience has been quite good, and I'm happy with the product (new cover for the R1200S). Good communication from the company, and great communication from FedEx. The cover came...

Anyone used Car Covers Factory UK?

I've just ordered a new cover for my R12S from Car Covers Factory UK. It seemed to be just what I was looking for plus a long guarantee. But stupidly (maybe?) ordered before checking reviews of the company. Can't find reviews of the UK company, but a similarly named company, probably in USA (prices ...

Crass Stupidity!

My bikes are off the road for the duration. We need this pandemic brought under control so lives can be saved, the NHS doesn't get overwhelmed, and some new normality (whatever that might be) can be achieved. The message has been very clear. At least, to me it has. Biking organisations have said to ...

Re: Replacement Knee

I haven't been through the experience either, but know a few who have and have bounced back as good as new. Good advice from the others, and good luck with the new knee. My late mother had a hip replacement after a fall, refused to take pain killers after the op (told the young doctor that giving bi...

Re: Pleasant Surprises on my recent R1100S purchase

I've regularly fallen in and out of love with my 11s over the years ( or is it decades  ) . But this time of year I always tend to put up a lot of miles on it , it must be the lower temperatures , it just seems to run so much better and smoother. In recent years I've fitted a lennies and the...

Re: insurance blues

As Pete says you get nothing for being loyal to a brand these days, If you do end up shopping around give BeMoto a call. Different levels of cover you can tailor it to suit you, no charges for midterm changes, if you say you saw them advertised on a 44 teeth video you will get extra discount. I was...
