Re: Fuel Grade

Welcome to the forum. I love the R1200S and couldn't bring myself to sell mine when I bought a Tiger 800. The Tiger is my workhorse, mainly because of the top box for carrying stuff and all-day comfort, but it's the BMW I really enjoy riding. I always put the super grade fuel in the Beemer whenever ...

Re: Karak Highway

Caused me to wince a few times. Way too much reliance on other road users behaving predictably, and we know that they often don't. I must be getting old - I can't honestly say I enjoyed watching that - I'm sure I would have once upon a time.

Re: Battery charger connection

I recently had to replace my Optimate after it gave up in the heatwave (remember the heatwave - doesn't seem possible now). Anyhoo, I couldn't get a new one with the old style connector (as in your photo above), so also had to get new fly leads. Bummer. I now have a couple of old style connector fly...

Re: Certificate of Conformity Charges

I needed a C of C when I imported my bike from Ireland a few years ago. Phoned BMW UK expecting a right old palaver and for it to cost a 3 figure sum. They took the VIN over the phone and sent me one FOC. Didn't even charge me postage. Result! :thumbright: Mike Perhaps the good folks at BMW UK don'...

Certificate of Conformity Charges

Interesting list of contacts and charges to receive a ULEZ Certificate of Conformity. Some manufacturers will issue them for free, others charge (BMW £120). I'm not planning on riding into London, ever, so not affected, but for those who have to, it must be a worry. https://wiki.mag-uk.org/images/f/...

Evening Classes

While shredding old documents, I came across this from 1989. Some wag at work clearly had time on their hands. It amused me, though a couple of them may be considered slightly un-PC these days.

Interesting...

...Bennetts insurance, both the high renewal quote and today's new lower renewal price, and the best other quote I got (Carole Nash) are all with Aviva!

Re: Gordon...

The meerkat wasn't much use because I couldn't see how to get a multi-bike quote, so tried a couple of providers and managed to get much better quotes. Gave Bennetts a courtesy call to let them know I wasn't happy about the hike, and he put me on hold for a few minutes (terrible, very loud music! - ...

...Bennetts!

Insurance has jumped by a whisker under 33% this year. They've been pretty consistent for the last few years, so wasn't expecting this financial poke in the eye - I was rather hoping for a loyal customer thank you instead. Ho-hum, time to compare meerkats.

Re: who has ever said "this is a keeper"

I agree about the Six Nations - it starts in the depth of winter and finishes in spring - cold dark to warm light. And we have the Calcutta cup (at least for a bit longer). :D Ahem... Sorry... I did keep my Aprilia Falco for 10 years, but even then, my better half was surprised when I chopped it in ...

Re: I'm Riding Backwards for Christmas

I confess that I don't know for sure, but two possible reasons come to mind: 1. Tyre is running against the direction of tread, therefore increased tyre wear. 2. Clearing water in the rain - I would think it would be more efficient to run in direction as designed. Even the new Gatorskin tyres I fitt...

Re: How to treat the missus

I agree that Bob Dylan has a great (the greatest?) catalog of brilliant work. But I'm not sure I'd want to see him now. We were lucky enough to get tickets from an old friend to see the Rolling Stones earlier in the year. I wasn't expecting much - a 70+ year old man prancing about on the stage, back...
