Re: Cheap private plate.

£150 before it goes back into DVLA's black hole.....! You could maybe try it on Hibernian (Hibs) supporters Facebook or website?? Have seen a few like that in Edinburgh. Cheers Ali Someone over on UKGSer mentioned that too - it sold on eBay this morning though! :) Oh, and I listed it when they had ...

Re: Valve adjustment

I believe those measurements are correct. Did you do them when the engine was stone cold? And did you do the rocker arm end float too?....that needs setting between 0.05 and 0.40mm, a big range, and consensus is that it's better to aim for the smaller measurement as it keeps things quieter and the b...

Re: Cheap private plate.

£249,that's a fair price. Will consider changing my name to H18  Well, we're very lucky here in Blighty, as a name change is as simple as telling folk 'from this date on, I wish to be known by the name.....' - job done, no deed-poll nonsense, it's that simple. Go for it....H! I've ha...

I believe you can, although there's a guy over on UKGSer who offers a full rebuild service on them for around £180 all-in.

Re: Cheap private plate.

Hi Pete, I suspect I may be being exceptionally dense here, but... what is it supposed to read? My tiny brain can't fathom any meaning from that sequence of letters and numbers. Paul Er....I don't think it reads owt Paul, it's just somebody's initials with H18 in front of them! The 'plate maker' I ...

Re: Trip weather ..

Quite handy that Steve - just tried it for an upcoming trip to Carlisle next week. Only issue is....their weather! :) XCWeather is what I normally use for forecasts, that tells me next Wed has quite a bit of rain about the further north I go, Weathercast says it's going to be fine! As I keep saying ...

Re: battery booster/ starter

Well, I bought a no-name brand one off eBay last year for around £15. I've yet to suffer a flat battery on my RT, but a mate of mine usually has a couple of cars on his drive that he's in the process of doing up, so he was press-ganged into a test. We purposely flattened the battery on a Hyundai i40...

Re: Confession time.

Whenever I go out of the UK, which admittedly isn't often these days, I carry a few bits and pieces on the bike, mainly because I can't bear the thought of having to pay main dealer prices to get me rolling again should I break down. A fan belt's a good idea, as Humbug says, and I always carry one m...

Re: Self Indulgence .....

Well done Steve! Do you find you feel generally 'better' having cut the carbs out? A friend recommended that I give it a whirl after he came down from a ginormous 28st to 17st doing it. I tried it for a while, around 6 weeks, lost around a stone....and felt better than I'd felt in ages - a lot less ...

Re: Off on tour

Sounds good! :) Hope the weather stays fine for you, last time I came over Millau it was raining so heavily I couldn't see where I was going - at least there's barriers to stop you going over the side! Do you pack spare coils as well? I always have a main and one of each lower in my luggage,...
