Re: R12S small tank bag suggestions
The Engage bag is a perfect fit for the R1100S. I removed the bit that separates the inside into separate sections. I now carry a clear visor in the front curved area. The size is perfect for everything else with enough room to put the Zumo when I have a coffee break if I can’t keep an eye on the bi...

Re: R12S small tank bag suggestions
I use SW Motech and find them spot on. I have 3 different size bags depending on what I’m doing that day. eBay to reduce the cost?

By the time I would arrive it would be lunch time!
Shame as I enjoy a good breakfast. I hope you get a few turning up.

Re: Back in the Fold on a Boxer :-)
Just a heads up Jez. When you fix the mirror mounts you will probably see a small gap at the base of them. This is normal as they don’t match the fairing absolutely perfectly unfortunately. It threw me but I found something on line about it and was reassured. I didn’t find Nigel’s instructions on ‘b...

I’m not going to wonder anymore about 2 of you and 2 nighties.
All those milky coffees and all that cake and not even feeling guilty!
Looks like a nice trip and cracking photos.

Re: Back in the Fold on a Boxer :-)
The RR mirrors come up on eBay often enough, sometimes not been on the road, from guys that only want to track their RR. So you should get a bargain. Maybe check German eBay too.

Re: sargent seat
As far as I know, the fittings were the same for all years.
There was a mod done by some guys to make the fitting more secure, rather than just using a coin to unscrew them.
Have a look on the oem site at the diagrams? Might point you in the right direction.

Don’t let the GS riders see this or they’ll get an inferiority complex.

Re: Back in the Fold on a Boxer :-)
Looking good Houston. In the best colours as well. Looks like the original mirrors are still on it? As you probably know by now, they are only of use to check out your shoulders. A popular mod, remaining within BMW, are the S1000RR mirrors. Look ok and actually let you know what’s behind you. A brac...

Re: Mobile Charging
Been doing some reading recently on the GS site on the camping forum. Some good advice there on all manner of things including electronic charging. Most take a big power pack and charge phones, helmets, etc from the pack. When on a ride it gets charged from the bike to top it back up. That’s much th...

Re: R1100s Sreen
Finally dug out the original screen.
It’s 2” higher than the original and ever so slightly wider towards the top.
It’s going to make a difference but I can’t say more as I changed it so long ago that I forget. FWIW the Powerbronze is sufficient for me at autobahn speeds without bending forward.

Water cooled? Where is the swear filter?
Is that the final drive oil that never needs changing for the life of the bike? Who on earth thought that was a good idea and signed off on it? Answers on a postcard to the usual address please ...

Re: R1100s Sreen
I’ve got one, the trouble is I forget what the oem one is like. I will dig it out this weekend and guestimate the difference in size. I’m thinking about a new screen purely for the sake of it, but not sure what direction to go in. Some are ginormous which I definitely don’t want, but a bit larger th...
