Thanks for sharing your experience/ ideas folks. Off on me hols tomorrow (not on a bike :cry: ) so will get the BCR up on the hydraulic bike bench soon after my return, get panels/tank off etc and start the search for the fault. Will keep you posted on my findings.

The fast idle lever is an extra the 1100S can do without, haven't used the lever on our bikes for years.
Thumb the starter with your left hand and operate the throttle with right hand to achieve a fast idle, a very easy fix indeed :)
