Wanted R1200S front Shock

Anyone got a front shock in the garage? Seems my Ohlins is past repair.

Re: Shock Horror

Anyone got a spare front shock for the 12S in their garage? Seems like mine is beyond economical repair

Re: Shock Horror

It seems a little corroded now so could have happened a while ago but looks like it may have been a pothole looking at the damage to the whole bracket including the knurled nut.

Shock Horror

Removed the front shock for a rebuild tomorrow and found the bottom end looking like this. Not sure what has happened to cause that, ideas anyone?
Seems like I was only a pothole away from disaster. Cannot see what would have caused the bottom to wear like that as there is nothing to rub against.

Re: Depression ahead

Well, shock is out and I must say its time for a rebuild! some parts look seriously unwell. Not a hard job as long as the front wheel is on the ground and the engine is well supported. Bottom bolt was easier than I thought it might be, didn't even need heat. Time for a good inspection and clean down...

Re: Depression ahead

Thanks for the offer Steve. Just been to see Mike Overy at Overland and Classic to book in for throttle body sync and he was recommending that while the bike is on stands and apart I should look at replacing or at least servicing the ball joint at the top due to the 80000 mileage. I think I may take...

Re: Depression ahead

I used Colin at 100% Suspension for the rear, he is near Mansfield http://www.100pcsuspension.co.uk/ and am using ETTO Motorcycles near Bingham in Notts for the front as recommended by my local workshop of Dan Hegarty in Bingham.

Depression ahead

Got to hand over the front Ohlins shock for a rebuild on Monday. No bike for 10 days and going to miss a trackday at Cadwell with Chris Walker that I had planned to attend  Would have deferred it but MOT man wants it done and the chap doing it will be tied up for 6 weeks after next week. Bet it...

Re: Tracker

Good point well made. It was just peace of mind really. The thought of someone getting their hands on my bike Grrrrr. Had three stolen before although that was in Essex and London before I moved to the East Mids. 80,000 miles its probably not worth a great deal to anyone but means quite a bit to me....

Tracker

Just had my renewal email for the tracker on my bike. They tell me the internal battery is low and they will change it for me for £129 on top of the £190 annual subscription  Or, they could renew the whole thing for £199 + subscription  After 7 years of regular subscription, I am looki...

Re: ignition switch

Had a similar problem on one of my bikes but turned out to be a nasty git having had a go at the steering lock by wrenching the bars when it was parked. Seems it had bent the lug and the lock couldnt engage under normal operation. It was the locating pin and not the lock that was at fault. Hope that...
