Just for trial and error, remove the airfilter dont ride around with no filter, but remove it and see if the back firing and flames continue. have you checked that the throttle cables are correctly seated in the adjustable barrels http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/JimVonBaden2000/R1100GS/CableE...

Re: WONT START

Getting in to the handle bar cluster is a bitch. I had to get in there once to clean my indicator cancel switch on the 1150GS. I need to get back in there to clean the start / kill switch after I came off in the sand a month ago..... yeah, its a bitch, not done it yet. Dont let me scare you, its not...

Re: Clutch replacement

I have started dissasembly of my 1100S and will be progressing some more this weekend. I have the haynes manual and that has some good guidance but also says that you need to remove the cylinders - for engine assy removal - I dont understand why. Anyway, this is the link to my thread http://boxertri...

Re: ENGINE REMOVAL THREAD / WRITE UP?

thanks for the link to the Pelicanparts thread. I had seen that and found that was the best so far. I have done gearbox on my 1150GS, not worried about that part but this time, no need to split those halves. Now that I have the rear subframe off - simple and 4 bolts, the rest is a bit clearer. It ce...

Re: ENGINE REMOVAL THREAD / WRITE UP?

yep, its looking that way!
When I did my GS a few years back, I didnt go that / this far, but now I can see the bike it built 'on to' the engine.
I have made a start, will get pictures and stuff and add to this thread in due course.

ENGINE REMOVAL THREAD / WRITE UP?

Is there a thread on here anywhere detailing and engine + gearbox removal from the frame?
Coming in to the wet season and want to drop it out, give all a good clean, properly check the clutch and a few things

Thanks

Re: WONT START

I had an off last weekend on my 1150GS, in a river and ejected to the right side of the moto. When I picked him up, I had kicked / hooked the left side throttle body and it was rotated in the rubber boots quite a bit. it ran like a bag of spanners - when it did run! it was a long 600km home! the plu...

Re: Lights out on the R1100S

With the age that these bikes are now and my experience, the outer rubbery hose type stuff that some wires are bundled in to a loom is perishing and the actual wires insulation is breaking down. I have a 2002 GS and in in 2012 removed all the outer rubber hose, cleaned and checked the wires as best ...

If your panniers are broken / damaged and you want a NEW set - pm me.
I have a BRAND NEW set (insurance claim) that I wont be needing.
Yes, I am in Australia, but dont let the idea of freight put you off.
