I had one of these helmet locks, works very well if you have DD ring fastners for your helmet.
The UK source used to be Nippy Norman although I do not know if he still does them. They were about GBP10 - 15 I believe

Daz The ones from Motorworks are probably the standard plastic ones, which would probably have worked in your incident but have needed replacing. The ones Steptoe showed are similar to these American made guards (much more substantial). http://www.jimmyjib.com/guards.htm Steve

A cheap alternative is to use the black wheel nut covers that were fitted to MK2 golf GTI's they are a good tight fit and should cost less than GBP5.00

The rear cans are mounted on 2 spigots with rubber or silicon sleeves so there is a certian amount of movement.
If you remove the 4 bolts together with any support bar you may have on the Y piece, this should allow the exhast to drop enough to allow you to remove the bolt.

Yes I was lucky but in the end the luck ran out and one of the bolts sheered. So drilled out the threads and used S/S nuts and bolts with plenty of copperslip.

When I took the shocks of mine, I splt the exhaust at the join by the Y piece (4 bolts) and let the exhaust drop a bit, which was if I remember correctly was enough to allow the bolt removal.

I have just checked about the price rises with our tyre section. They confirm that the price of rubber has doubled recently which together with an increase in fuel costs has lead to increases of between 6 - 15 percent in the cost of tyres.

I have a standard set of both both front and rear shocks. They had done approx 25,000 miles if I remember correctly and still worked fine.

yours for GBP30 + postage.

Let me know if you are intested.
