Re: Sunday 5th November

Really sorry to have not made it to Jack's yesterday - sounds like you chaps had a great, good ol'fashioned Boxertrix brekkie. 8)

Re: Sunday 5th November

Sorry fellas I'm having to drop out of this - have got to go off on a mission (of a compassionate nature) on Sunday morning. :(

You're probably right - it's just a subject which is quite close to home, and one I'm a tad sensitive about I guess. Apologies if I got slightly defensive.

Syston Park Speed Trials

A lovely bit of nostalgia. Back in the pre-WW2 years, Syston Park near Grantham was a regular venue for hill climbs. Not used for a long time, 3 years ago it was decided to organise a revival meeting for pre-1939 cars and bikes. This was the first time I've been, and it was a fantastic day out - som...

Re: Man's Best Friend Just Got Better

He said that we are only scratching the surface of what dogs are capable of. For quite some time, the medical 'community' poo-poo'd the idea of dogs being used for detection of disease (cancer and diabetes being the big 2) but thankfully they're now starting to wake up to the potential. Re: Man's Best Friend Just Got Better

This is a subject quite close to my heart as an ex-RAF mate of mine (who was actually on the 'Secret Life of Dogs' tv series) suffers major seizures on a regular basis. His dogs have saved his life on more than one occasion. This piqued my interest in the whole subject of bio-detection dogs so when ...

Re: N York Moors...

Thanks chaps. :) We fell in love with the NYM's back in 1999 when Mrs Gromit and I did the Coast-2-Coast walk - an area which previously we'd only explored very briefly. Must have had at least 10 summer holidays there now (with and without bairns) and will always be back for more. A part of this cou...

N York Moors...

...and the odd steam loco too. As a family, for many years we've made the relatively short trip from Lincs up to the N York Moors for our summer holidays. We love the place. Out on a walk along part of the Cleveland Way. This particular stretch begins at Clay Bank Top which is on the B1257. That num...

Re: Bye all

UKGSER is full of good info and help just like on here, good write ups on trips etc, but the Beakchat and bollox section is pretty full on no holds barred for comments, slagging off, abuse etc with very little moderator input and not a place for the sensitive types, a bit different from us friendly...

Re: Thunderstruck

Grip Fast You'll find the Manx GP (sorry the "Classic TT" now they've let all the professional riders in), a much more relaxed event. About half as many visitors to the Island means you can get a meal or a pint at a bar with out queueing for hours. Roads are less manic too with less idiot...
