Re: Heat Pumps
So we have a decree from a Politician Nett Zero Carbon 2050 (UK) and to go one better from another Politician 2045 (Scotland) WTF Nett Zero means is that it is anything but "Zero" Gas boilers redundant 2035. In terms of powering our homes they want us to use renewables such as Solar, Wind...

Re: The cost of running Boxertrix
Subs paid. Is it worth renewing the domain name for a longer period? The annual cost would then be reduced for that particular cost at least. Also - is it worth looking into a subscription system? Maybe have a 'free' membership level with limited permissions (eg not able to post photos, or something...

Re: Remember Hein Gericke knee pads?
Are they still trading in Germany? I've still got 2 jackets and a pair of trousers and think they're brilliant. I don't think I've ever proofed them and they're still waterproof. Maybe a product of their own success? I think I remember reading somewhere last year that they'd shut down, even in Germ...

Re: Wanted: pannier liner
Long shot but has anyone got a pannier liner (one will do) for an R1100S/r11x0gs, rs, r, rt k1200rs/ early gt pannier? I bought a pair from ebay a few years ago - they fit well, and weren't that much. (can't put up a link - ebay doesn't seem to keep a purchase history longer than 3 years, and I bou...

I suppose the extra framework around the gearbox makes the S a bit stiffer than the R-R/Rockster ?
(and obviously there's the under-seat exhausts... )

Re: Remember Hein Gericke knee pads?
Hi. Hein Gericke used to sell lightweight, flexible knee/elbow/shoulder armour that fixed to the lining of your clothes with snap-on studs. I don't think it was their own brand. It was very reasonably-priced. Does anyone recall this product? Is anything like it still made? Asking for a young studen...

Re: Father forgive me ....
Well ... this weekend I spent out on the BCR upped the speeds by 10 mph (but still at legal limits in 30's and 40's of course) as was riding alone. Also filled up with E10 in Llangollen (the petrol station in Llan doesn't have E5 ... note to Welsh Weekenders) The extra speed and the use of E10 brou...

Re: Father forgive me ....
... for I have sinned As many here will know I've owned a BoxerCup since 2008 and have covered 24000 happy miles on it. I regularly change the oil and filter, and during a recent gearbox oil change I changed to Mobil 1 SHC fully synthetic and combined with a 20g tube of LiquidMoly has resulted in a...

Re: Shxte Fuel
In my experience so far: 95RON (standard 'normal' petrol) is pretty much universally (in the UK) now E10 (up to 10% ethanol), and for my Rockster - I get about 165 miles to reserve. 98RON ('Super unleaded') is normally E5 (up to 5% ethanol), but some companies (eg, IIRC Shell) say that there is virt...

Re: City Lids
Instead of attaching the lids with pop rivets as per standard I've used small allen bolts, so that if I feel the need to put the larger lids on I can swap them in 10 mins or so. IIRC Vines actually did that job for me when I bought my first Rockster and had the city lids included in the order. Unfo...

Re: Cracked FR Fork leg ??? !!!
I suspect it may be corrosion that will have caused that. On two fronts.............. Metal oxide occupies a much larger volume than the parent metal (steel is 7 times greater volume) Corrosion can cause interstices which make cracking more likely. The alloy corrodes and swells - and cracks to reli...

Re: MOT Refusal
Yes - I've heard of this - I think it's something to do with the reflector inside the lamp unit being suitable for incandescent bulbs (eg halogen/xenon), but NOT for LED bulbs (which throw the light out in a different way). The practical upshot is that you don't get the same 'beam' of light from the...
