Re: Slipping the S
That's how mine comes off. It hangs on two rubbers and the clamp. The only way to remove it is slide it backwards.

Re: Final drive change
AS a change from the Corona virus I'd like to know if anyone has ever swapped the final drive on a 12 s ratio 33/12 for one from an RT ratio 34/11. I used mine for a trip to the Ukraine last year and found it all a bit busy for my taste. I realise there will be some loss of acceleration but am not ...

Re: New pushrods
Thanks guys. I'm on 88k miles so it's not done too bad. I knew that I could get one-piece replacements but having the tools and the inclination I preferred to just make some new ones.
The one-piece jobs must be all steel I guess?

New pushrods
My bike has had a rattle recently that's become rather chronic so I spent today going over it to find the cause. As soon as the engine warmed up it would start tapping and the hotter it got the worse it got. Turns out that on the right cylinder 3 of the 4 pushrod ends were loose. The three ends had ...

Re: Pleasant Surprises on my recent R1100S purchase
The IAT sensor affects the mixture for sure. When the air is cold (and therefore dense) the ECU compensates by adding fuel otherwise the engine will run lean. The various-coloured 'tuning caps' for the R1100S probably apply a modifier to the IAT compensation table, along with other tables. There are...

Re: Unbalanced & drippy
Leaning a fuel injection bike should make no difference as the fuel is held in a pressurised system (pump - regulator - injector) - there's literally nowhere for it to run to or from. It's most likely that your problem lies with the injector. Swap the over to see if the fault moves. Take care with t...

Exhaust repair
A couple of weeks ago my bike got suddenly very noisy and here's the reason why. The joint where the stub goes into the silencer had rotted through. Odd that this one bit should rot away yet the rest is in such good condition. Here's I've cleaned up one side and ready to do the same on the stub. bmw...

Re: Unbalanced & drippy
It's possible that the injector needs servicing, it might not be shutting off properly. It's not super expensive to get them serviced, someone with an ASNU machine will give you a flow and spray pattern report before and after for comparison.

Re: ABS-ectomy
If I did remove the ABS I wouldn't declare it as a modification. They come standard with ABS or NON-ABS but the distinction is not made on the V5C and I wasn't asked if it was ABS or NON-ABS when I took the policy so to my thinking either way is 'standard'. My first bike was ABS (which the previous ...

Re: London Emission Zone
The ULEZ system will automatically make any pre-2007 non-compliant until they get evidence that it isn't then the database is updated on a per-bike basis, so it's not surprising that the ones you checked were not. BTW from what I can gather that place that nab301 linked to manage to get most of the ...

Re: Curing my rattling throttle bodies
Post away AL, if I didn't want people to know it I would not have put it here.
BTW take great care when staking those screws. I put them in with high-strength threadlock and staked them, you do not want those coming loose and getting sucked into the cylinders.

Re: London Emission Zone
Starting new job in the city, and my 11S is not compliant, so unless I buy another newer bike I'm stuck on the sweaty betty trains and tube. Could take bike and park outside zone and walk a mile in all my gear I suppose? Don't fancy that Your 11s will be compliant, because mine is. All you need is ...
